Military proposes smoking ban on soldiers

"A new study commissioned by the Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs recommends a complete ban on tobacco, which would end tobacco sales on military bases and prohibit smoking by anyone in uniform, not even combat troops in the thick of battle."

"According to the study, tobacco use impairs military readiness in the short term. Over the long term, it can cause serious health problems, including lung cancer and cardiovascular disease. The study also says smokeless tobacco use can lead to oral and pancreatic cancer."

Banning smoking to improve health. What a maniacal Idea. What about banning combat, that may improve health as well.

judging by their sense of priority i guess we are to assume that smoking is more detrimental to your health than bullets. who woulda known?

I can just see this prohibition on smoking in the military ending badly...

I wonder what they'll abuse instead, maybe alcohol, or illegal drugs, or prescription drugs. This plan was ill thought out, and ignores the fact that some times the best stress reliever is a cigarette. Of course, they aren't being completely honest and admitting that maybe the stress of being in the military may contribute to more physiological and mental damage than smoking.

Maybe they are confused and some how got to the conclusion that Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder/Syndrome is linked to smoking. Some how, with Obama and his cronies, it wouldn't surprise me.

So Obama is to blame for the Pentagon's findings? I will bet you he has NO hand in this story at all (I don't know for sure, however). And you still blame him?

well what annoys me is they can't even have beer in iraq. i mean WTF??? then these ballcracking douchebags want to take their smokes away, because uncle sam, or rather 'nanny sam' says its bad for their health.

Ive been told yes by the store i bought him from. but i say no, his eyes only show the red when hes in high light areas ( ie. camera flash). I say he's not because right above where his tail begins to shoot off from his body, there are like 10-15 strands of black fur, and in normal light his eyes look blue... so i say no.
The store also said he was going to die within 3 weeks of me purchasing him. But, thats why i bought him, to get him back to full health. Id rather spend the money on an attempt to nurse an animal back to health over letting him rot and die at the hands of someone who could care less.

Like i said, hes 2 years old now, shows how much they know.

they can have beer over there, they just cant get drunk. my cuz was there.

weed might solve all of them problems IMO. but i think they brainwash them to believe that you "dont want to be drunk if you get a call and need to go protect your brothers." thats what my cousin told me
