Minimum temperature at night for plants to survive?

i am about to start growing outddors and was wondering how low the temperature can go at night so it will survive?

I also been wondering about this.

You really don't wanna transplant to the outdoors until overnight temps are in atleast the upper 50's. It could survive lower but I found over time it produces more males than anything. More than likely due to the stress it invokes upon them. I don't know much about the indoor thing but I been doing it outdoors for quite a few years now. Just look at the weekly forecast and average the overnight low's out and once you feel comfortable take a shot at it. This early in the year there is bound to be a straggler night that plummets but once in awhile will be fine just not every night. Hope this helps. Keep us posted with some pics. Later

I have had seedlings that have started indoor survive a frost but lost 3 from frost, and that is 32 degrees F so its up to you i have transplanted a few mexican sativa and they are doing fine with 45-50 at night

I had seedlings out last winter with temps as low as 8 degF and lived no probs (although i was growing a hardy outdoor strain)only thing they didnt grow an inch untill last week of winter. Then they veg for short while and flower with scruffy airy buds due to weak spring sun.You get a harvest but nothing like the summer harvest. Keep the ground well mulched.

Yup, you can get away with very low temps sometimes, but it's not nice to. Be patient! Start em inside if you can; even better, start em outside in some kinda greenhouse, however modest, with a heater in it; if neither of those is practical, then just sit tight and follow the instructions above.

k thanks for your imput i live in canada so we use celsous and 50 F is about 10C and our daily lows are going about 4-8C now so ill wait 2-3 more weeeks till its atleast 10C hopefully then start germing. also i want to practice germing seeds now so i dont ruin my good ones what regular vegetables can i practice with?

Yea im in canada also, over in nova scotia. If you start from seed outdoors (if growing from seed), they will be much more adapted to the cold. Frost is basically my only concern when it comes down to keeping the plants alive, Ive had nights as low as 2 degrees celcious and kept them uncovered and they do great. You always wanna keep an eye on the weather channel to see if there is any risk of frost during the night, If so I stick them in a coldframe, basically anything that will cover them overnight to protect from frost. Ive had plants in the cold frame covered in a car cover with a whopping low of -10 degrees celcius and them babies stayed alive, but those temps were from unexpected cold spells. Nature will usualy tell you when the weathers good, once the grass starts to turn green, little leaves starting on trees, new green growth everywheres you look, Then you know that marijuana will be able to thrive in the climate. I dont know where abouts in canada your at but I check farmers almanac or a website online for the last frost date for your area, over here its may 1, which was yesterday and its right on the money, THat gives you a good time to know when to plant, hope that helps happy toking
