Miracle-Gro Liquid Houseplant Food

Link. Would this be any good for growing? And for what stages should it be used? I had a bottle lying around and was wondering if it would do any good. I realize that there are probably many better things to use and I would love to hear suggestions but I would also like to know if this would be beneficial at all because for about two weeks this is all I will have. The soil I am using is Scotts premium potting soil.

If your plants are in veg then go ahead and mix it about half strength. If no signs of nute burn then give them 3/4 strength the next week. MG is fine for veg in soil just go easy with it.

Lockout? Sorry I'm new here.
Lockout is a condition where an issue causes a plant not to uptake nutrients, most common cause is your ph being too high or too low. Like I said go easy with the MG and you'll be fine. Any nute can burn a plant when you give the plant too much. Your better off with too little than too much.

I have found this out to my cost with my very first grow. Used the MG liquid plant food, killed two and changed the pH in the last one too much,,lucky I leached and leached again. So next grow didnt use that,,stupidly bought MG granular all purpose plant food, same happend again just not as badly,,so NEVER again. aS BACKWOODSBURNER says dont ruine your garden,,if you have to use it,,then Id advise less than 1/4 strenght.
take it easy

O,, but I still grow in MG potting soil(with added perlite), now some will say this is a no no, but I havnt found the soil to be bad at all, infact the soil they make is good in my view, as long as you amend it, increase drainage and air-e-ation with perlite or whatever you use.
But what I was going to say is I now dont use a veg fert as the soil carries enough to keep them in veg till I bloom them ,and use bloom stims and ferts.
take it easy

It will work to a point.Use at 1/4 mix I started out with the very same stuff. you might try some Alaska fish fert. low cost and kinda smelly but kinder then the mg. hope you mixed some perlite into that scott's. As I recall it's kind of heavy soil. What are your plants at?

I'm afraid it wasn't Miracle Grow that ruined your garden. I'm sure your English teacher would agree.....

miracle grow sucks. burns plants and causes lockout. DO NOT USE!!!
Salts cause lock out. PH can cause lock out. Miracle Grow is not going to lock up a plant. That is just retarded. They have been in business longer than you have been alive. Come out of the back woods, and try it. They don't have any fancy designer labels, or midievil, gothic artwork on their web page, no wizards with crystal balls, or dragons breathing fire down on tomatoes....

They also do not have ridiculous prices for fertilizer. They even offer an organic line, so you can't argue that point either.

Posters that decry that MG sucks are usually ill informed, naive, and inexperienced. They more than likely tried MG soil for their very first grow and through inexperience, missed a watering, or overwatered and rather than place blame where it belongs, they blame one of the best selling lines of fertilizers and soils.

People don't keep buying shit over and over when it kills plants or doesn't work. When you are in school today, ask your Economics teacher about it.

p.s. DON'T skip spelling class today and pull those damn britches up and tighten that fucking belt..... ;)

I agree with stumps on this, don't fertilize with anything the first couple of weeks at least, your potting soil should have enough in it naturally to give them what they need the first couple of weeks.

LOL!!! I like the way you think. Keep on keepin' these kiddies straight.

The seed has enough stored nutrients to take from sprouting to about 2 weeks growth. There's no real reason to fertilize until the second set of real leaves emerge. Then go lightly w/ them

Miracle Gro ferts are fine. I'm not crazy about their new "Moisture Control" potting soil,in fact I think it's crap, but their other potting and garden soils are fine. As a guy above said you have to dink around with them and Scotts a bit to lighten them up and improve drainage, but that adjustment will still only put you out a few bucks.

Anyone know where I can get Miracle Gro in a bottle w/ a Dragon on it?

i'll probably be attacked for saying it but i tried scotts potting soil and was really disappointed. i filled a wheel barrow with it and planted spices and peppers. planted the same seeds in my personal mix in the garden and the garden plants grew twice as big. my mix started as some quality topsoil then each year i add about 8" of aged horse manure plus the dry bark from cutting firewood, till it all under in the spring. my corn and other vegs are bigger than the neighbors and my celery grows tall compared to the people i give plants to, who as a matter of fact use scotts potting soil in raised beds. i use water from a hand dug well, so no flouride or other crap. whatever works and is organic.
