I posted a thread “took clones wish me luck” and had a 30 day and on going run with one potential survivor. Have a good clue what I am going to change next run and follow people’s methods posting it’s own thread as a journal in the journal section. Still have a question or two and feel like there are little things I should buy.
What do they mean by treat the mother before taking cuttungs to clean her? GFF/Hydrogaurd sprayed on them? Part of the reason they mold they say. While it is relevant, how long of Mother plant solution would you feed before the effects take place for cuttings?
Distilled or tap water for cuttings? Someone said check more into which one and what PH. Tap probably because it has some micro nutes that can be useful, but is it loaded with pathogens? Just curious.
Razor blades, rapid root, hormones, temp control, correct amount of light, consistency and leave dome clones alone or have one thag you open up to spray if needed.
Each run:
- cup water method, change water daily
- cup of adequate prepared coco water almost daily
- dome with spraying as needed *rapid root water as needed
- dome left alone like I mostly just did *rapid root water as needed
-one with no dome, rapid root rater as needed.
Temps: steady 72F -79F (probe)
Light: ambient from LED Fecida 130W 4ft high
Location: Veg/auto tent on ground next to heat source and probe
Spray cuttings with GFF/Hydrogaurd for damping off/mold. Last time I did peroxide water in lid and baking soda in plants for mold, the peroxide was dumb and just dries it faster and does not even cause mold formation to begin with but the baking soda was a tip from a large grow op that seemed promising but the GFF/Hydrogaurd is more active and feel like will be better next time. Just once I think they said to spray cuttings.
Not to complicate things, heck, I really think this is simple and did get progress my what would technically be 3rd attempt and have a hunch why and feel this was worded for success next time as that is the outline of what was suggested to me last time which I will read through.
This one is for treating mothers and prior to cutting and misc tips or gadgets/products that I did not recall coming up last thread. Then, show time! 60-90 days I will have the gardening opportunity to take all cuttings for next flower run and soon perhaps more, just planted 3 seedlings. One Auto.
To be clear, the rest half of this thread I was hoping to cover tips on pheno hunting, can you do it with 5 seeds same strain in early flower stage? (might end up taking a cutting much sooner then!) Do you typically mother a clone that grew the way you best favored and then run clones and replace mother due to age or for the original reason for pheno hunting of which you repeat this process?
Will this also include maturing times of flower? What is it called when you hunt for those traits, just regular genetic selection? A bit early to ask, but how would you cross back to the closest genetics it came from if you lose your pheno (or other traits? That possible?)
For breeding male female plants, do you just do that once for seeds, like how do you repeat the process? Mate within your genetic family? Is that inbreeding? Or are you limited to eventualy starting another strain unless you get the same seeds, which will produce various expressions which do not help other than to go through the pheno hunt again?
These are questions I am searching answers from, though binding all my efford into a thread to newbie central would help the next. What ever is not covered I can come back to answer when I find out my self and have it felt through here. Suprised what ends up turning to be BS. Just like this topic, it can be diluted information that has more to it, channels and sources of info welcome, I do not have many.
