Yaaaaaaa. I top the main stem right after she gets 4-5 nodes and b4 I tie her down. I top the main stem only once.... I then wait until the lower stems have grown as tall or taller than the main stem, ( now topped ) and then I top those. All in all i top 3-5 tops on each plant and thats how I get 8+ tops

Ok, been converted or shall i say, saw the light. Ive never done an outdoor but how it was shown to me is like you guys are saying. Cage it, pull the lower brances outward and let the sun, lst, and topping do the rest. Wow, non auto plants can really get big if theyre sativas.

Ive never grown it but actually bought some last week and a GREAT smoke. i smoke Extremely often and this
got me high off a bowl or two. one of my all time faves. im pretty jealous i may just buy a couple DB seeds now lol too late for me to start outdoor tho

good look with your grow man everything looks great. what you using for soil? and any nutes or just letting go all natural. outdoors need far less nutrients IMO

Gr8 news on the gr8 Smoke!
I was using my parents 20 year kitchen compost mixed with shop compost! Then into the outside I mixed my Parents Compost""" (lol) into the dirt which is pretty good on my chunk (south spain) and will be Using the nutes I have which happens to be CANNA Vega and CANNA Flores... I got HESI Coco - obviously for coco - but if I run out of Canna that will be my back-up (should be okay rite? cant be that different that it wont work in soil?)

why do you tie it down after topping it?just curious as that could change my strategy but ive gotten a pretty bushy ass plant by just topping @ about 5th node, letting recover 5-7 days, topping again, wait 5-7 days top again and continue until flower. and also topping some of the side nodes my best outdoor yield for a plant so far was 9 ozs although ive only had about 9 plants make it to harvest outdoor (only been growing very low scale about 2 yrs or so) after reading a lil 9oz is pretty solid. im hoping to get at least half of that now with my CG card coming shortly and ill be moving it indoor until next april

cuz its too late to start a new grow outdoors and expect it to get like 5-6'tall.

yes great smoke for sure! and nice homemade compost is the best. and well the CANNA vega is certainly working nicely. and ya i wish i could start up some durbans right now but round the east coast in the US you only have a small window like 1-2 months where you can start your summer plants and i missed it, took me a lil to find a patient blah blah but when i get my durban poison and white widow and possible jack h going ill def have a journal to compare so stay tuned! lol and good luck i personally love outdoors how nature just flips to the 12/12 naturally, but im def interested to get a perpetual harvest going indoors so it should be fun.

YES WAY too late in the year for any nice size grow. I live in SUNNY ASS so cal and wouldnt want to begin a grow today...outdoors of course.
I dont always do that.. Mostly I tie her down b4 she is ready for a good topping.... I want to get the plant going sideways early on in the grow, the early she is trained the better she is IMO . Getting her parallel to the dirt as early on as possible ( usually after she has been put into Final resting place ( IE 3-5 gal pot ) is how I like to roll. Once the main stem is growing sideways a few days to a week and showing good growth, I then would top her an again and again an again

Also I think that if you top then tie your two new tops will be less supported by the main stem and more weak by default.

There is no one way to do this... You got to learn on the fly and by trial and error. LST, top, super cropping and twist n crack are all great ways to increase yield or just to change to plants dynamics and garden profile. Watch videos , those really help. I have even asked growers on here to make a video and they have.
The only to learn is to do!
