mites discovered at harvest

so i harvested a big plant; 18 branches hanging and what do i discover some hours later?

spider mites crawling all over the cut part of the branch (guess they are feeding on the plant juices there). Should i spray my hanging buds with some herbal spray? Will the mites eventually die as the plant dries?

i sprayed it with some insectal soap. i haven't trimmed the larger leaves off yet...will trimming help me get rid of them faster?

please help..thanks!

you should have just left them or rinsed under a shower of water. they actually start leaving the plant when you cut and hang it, a little tanglefoot in the right place and they're trapped after they leave the plant.

the insectal soap was only applied to the underside of the outer leaves, not the bud...

any ideas on what i should do at this point?

I'll still invest in some tanglefoot - never heard of this but seems really effective against crawling insects.

do lady bugs eat spider mites? if they do i would suggest them thats the least harmful thing i could think other than the tangle foot suggestion

Just some sticky pitch like stuff. Good to have it around. Make sticky traps or smear on stem so bugs can't climb up.

Is it that black stuff my grandpa uses on his fruit trees maybe? He smears like about a half to a foot section all around the trunk of the fruit tree about two or three feet up. He has the best fruit EVER!

lol sorry man. but i would try what still blazin said below my first post. go about your business like normal but put a bunch of lady bugs in the cure jars with the buds.

Ladybugs may eat spidermites but they only do when it's hot enough and the days are long...as in a veg room not flower room. Any other time they will cluster in the corner trying to hibernate. They also will only really eat them when they are real hungry, if not starving. Ladybugs are a real neat idea until you have to break down and spry anyways...killing them as well.

You may want to try Mighty Wash. I can't recommend it because I have not used it yet, but supposedly you can use it at anytime.
