MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

The first legal criminals in Canada to be caught outright by our glorious RCMP, only to let them slide because, GOD FORBID that anyone gets in the way of the our fucked up Governments Big Business plans.
By right ....No one should be charged with a marijuana offense in Canada after that fiasco.

In reality though, it will only make more work for police as they will just go about busting people and putting them through our court system.

WHY????.

..because

..."money make the world go round"

...sing it!

and the beat goes on...

Interesting to see how this thread progressed since I last posted in it...to see which predictions I made were wrong and which were right. Back then, I was disparaged as a nay-sayer for supposing that a minimum investment in becoming an LP would likely be more than 250k and that HC would use very vague QC guidelines as a means to weed out "undesirable" applications (meaning those that were not million dollar players). It appears both of those suppositions were correct, as I have yet to find a currently operating LP that has put out less than 250k to start up (is there not just four right now that have each put out a million or more?) and I've found plenty of complaints in this thread about ambiguous QC hoops to jump through, endlessly, which I believe have put some small start-ups out of the running????

Forgive the shameless, "I told you so" tone here, but I took a bit of beating from those who didn't care for my statement of what was very obvious at the time.

Anyway... of the small start-ups (some of whom said said they could do it for less than 50k), who is left in the running? Maximum, Kootnaygirl, Redi Jedi? Are you all still in the process? How much is it costing? Are you getting close? Was up???

imo theres no way you can do this for under 750k min, unless you own the land and have a setup building already.
look at the mclauglin brothers (spelt wrong) im sure they got instantly denied.
also once a applications land has been denied from municipality or HC, its black flagged to never be allowed again.

I think it's interesting as well. I can remember last winter saying small LP were not going to happen and I too was shit on. Funny how not many of the smaller scales wannabes are posting here much if at all.

the reality has probably settled in for most....though the small guy grow would have been the lesser of all the evils....they too it looks have been eliminated for the most part
from this process....unless they have very deep pockets...

There is a small LP that has their license in the Fraser Valley I think. They already own the farm (family farm) land and buildings and have their license. Friend of mine is friends with them, I'll ask him tomorrow which name they are going by.

I find it incredibly amusing that these companies come out on the market, claiming such big things and they don't have a license. I know they can line pockets at Health Canada and probably even at the RCMP, but I've heard it's harder to get through CSIS. With a board and employees as big as some of these companies are, I imagine that process will still take 4-6 months.

Will be interesting to watch them, but I believe they'll be waiting a while.

there looking for, no less than 20k sqft site and instant denial if within 500m of a house. newest thing to eliminate another 40 applicants, denied. not many moving forward fast. still 6-8 months for security checks, 6+ months to get up to & threw review stage

That is interesting information but how did you get it? I know of at least 2 currently licensed LPs that are less than 200 meters from houses. I know of at least one that is much less than 20k sq. ft. I agree nothing is moving fast. I hadn't heard the 6-8 months for security checks. Could you please share how you get this much information? Thanks

I can confirm that 6-8 months is realistic. It's an incredibly long process now.
Anyone who got in before now won't be hindered by these new rules, but they've learned from their mistakes and are now restricting future applicants.

Start counting on 6 months with RCMP/CSIS and then take your 1-2 months to build and then wait another 6 months for an inspection.
