MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

Well, we are lucky to have great people involved. It is our intent for 2 of us to be full time as soon as we receive the go ahead from Health Canada. Our projection is that we will need 4-6 more full time people by March 31, 2014. We can't really do much more until we hear from Health Canada. Is anyone else surprised that there are no licensed producers yet?

Las week when I spoke with HC they confirmed that a lot of applications have been submitted however many where incomplete. When I asked how many are many they couldn't comment.

We also received a file number, but they requested more information as our application was "incomplete". We subsequently submitted the additional information (very minor details) and they are evaluating it, so incomplete applications will still be evaluated if/when the remaining information is provided.

As for the number of applications, I dont think there is any way to know for sure. However, our file number ends in the 80s so assuming they are going in order I imagine they are over 100 by now.

Hello all, just wanted to say hi and join the thread. I am currently working on the LP application in the Halifax area. I am a bit confused with Section 10: QA pre-lic report. The report is to cover that the buildings, equipment and sanitation program comply with the regs. What about Standard operating procedures for producing, packaging, labelling, storing, testing, recalling and adverse reactions?

My bet is LP will need to provide sop in an audit after a year or two of operations. That will, give HC time to understand the operation risks a little better. It wouldn't hurt to include but they aren't a must have at the start. That's my best guess.

You all need to have a look at this https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=258372 These are the first that meet the Canadian commercial paradigms. Have a look and read it over carefully...do you see a common thread? I don't think these players are going after 20-30 patients...As expected they will not even be Canadian companies. These companies have already jumped through the hoops even before the mmpr was tabled. Its all about profit and has nothing to do with health care. JAS

Bedrocan is not a Canadian based company and hence is not eligible for an LP license...

Hello there - SO glad to have found this forum... I would like to say hello to everyone. I'm currently working on the LP application for a small scale set-up around the Saint John area in New Brunswick. Would love to connect with other like minded people who are doing their best to get through this process. Please message me if you'd like to chat!

Hey Kron, can you elaborate on what the application was missing?
There were a couple small items. I dont want to give all the details, but I will say that they were all trivial items such as not providing a telephone number for the building (which dosn't have phone service yet).

Yesterday we heard from Health Canada that our application has now "moved to the review stage". Not sure what that means but at least I hope it means it was complete. Does anyone have a timeline of when they think they could finally sell their first gram under the new MMPR? I doubt anyone will be ready before March 31, 2014.

I just read through much of this thread - wonderful to read the progression of information.

Thank you so much to those that are sharing your journey so far, as I am also moving forward with an application, and looking for information!

I only recently became licensed under the present system, knowing it would be phased out... and I started my home-grow and video journal as a way to learn as much as I could about growing, as fast as I could, so I would be ready and qualified under the new system coming in - and at the same time, building a network of people who may become customers when I become Licensed under the new regs.

My aim is to create a micro-growery with small batches of specialized strains. 20 to 30 lights in an off-building on a rural acreage with a house and barn.

I have the location, passion, education and experience, yadda yadda, but now for the business plan that puts the rubber on the road.

If you wish to connect up, find me Juiced Cannabis on Google Plus, @smokepot on vine and twitter and link to youtube channel in my sig.

Great to meet you all.
Joey.

Hey Joey, welcome man.

Just thought I'd quickly mention that you can't live in a house that's on the same property as your growing facility.

I thought that it was that you cant have a production facility in a dwelling house?
Hmm, I was under the impression that you couldn't have a dwelling house on the same property but maybe I'm wrong?

Edit: your way does make more sense come to think about it though.

I am quite certain that you can live on an agricultural property and grow under the MMPR, it just hast to be in a different building. You cannot grow in a dwelling.

Does anyone have reference to a direct link that could clarify this dwelling on property issue? I am in the same boat - planning to grow in a separate building on my property. Also looking to chat with any of you here that may care to contact me. Thanks very much ;)

Just look up the new regulations it says a licensed producer must not conduct any activity referred to in section 12 at a dwelling place
Section 12 list all the thing a licensed producer can do, so you can Not perform any activities in the building you live in, not even bag the shit up
