OK first I wasn't trying to disprove your point that use maple syrup is dumb and expensive.

Only that they are both made by boiling a sugary mess. But yes the sap is more dilute than people think or know.

A lot easier to harvest a field of cane than it is to get the syrup.

Here's a field of sugar cane (in the back) that was on a job site I was working on in Australia. We developed the rear of the land when the farmer harvested his cane.

I know the molasses is suppose to be unshulphured but does it have to organic or can it be just natural

maple syrup is 5$ per can here in Qc takes around 40-50 liters of maple water per liter of actual syrup. Now we use more and more osmosis to remove as such water as possible before finishing up with boiling. Much cheaper than boiling everything out like people did a few years ago.

You can make syrup from Birch trees as well.

molasses,,,just go to any liquid cattle feed manufacturing facility. They get their blackstrap molasses by rail or barge. They will probably have several tanks with hundreds of ton in stock. Most of these guys will pour you off a gallon for free. That should last you forever. Tell them you are mixing with corn for a deer attractant if baiting deer is legal in your province. I can get you a gallon I have access to 400 ton+ 94 brix Cane molasses. But shipping to Canada probably wouldnt be cost effective as 94 brix molasses is about 14lbs/gal for anyone in the US just find the nearest QLF Quality Liquid Feeds plant or Cargil plant nearby and they will do the same.
