View attachment 2185437 "phos." Use bat guano, To blast your buds at the end of bloom with p-k try bloombastic all by itself, for tight, hard, heavy buds. Just try to keep your regiment simple. All the bottled this and that is really just a good marketers way of makeing you spend money. Everything found in thiose bottles can be found in basic amendments, without all the overdose, underdose, ph problems etc. Not to mention the salt build-up, the flushing at end of bloom all that crap. Simple Organic amendments man! Don't believe it check my photo album, those are not starved sad girls. peace
thats what everyone thinks good marketers way to make you spend money but giving proper feedings, giving plants its humixes , fulvixes and other acids is what its all about
and what plant needs gives you big ass hard dense buds lots of P and K are needed to achieve big buds not at end or last few weeks throughout flowering

I use molasses throughout my entire grow. Grandmas molasses i add a table spoon to every gallon of nutrient i make up. Works beautifuly and adds so much flavor at the end. Needs to be unsulfured

Plants do not use sugars from the soil. They make their own sugars during photosythesis. And to say you can add a sweet flavor to buds using molasses is too funny.....
i use it for all my growth (soil) for about the past 10yrs and personally I think that if you add it right up to harvest it sweetens - it definitely changes flavour and adds bulk . P and K are are in molasses and its these that make the plant metabolise carbs/sugars, so the more P, K and carbs/sugar you add the more your plant will metabolise until all your plants taste the same - in plant roots simple sugars which bind to K+ will enter via the roots and leaves. Sugar on its own without K will not do anything to a plant. If you foliar feed a plant too much sugar like molasses it will slow photosynthesis and turn white - i have heard of people using using corn syrup, honey and maple syrup to much the same effect without strong flavours at higher concentrations ... i only use a tablespoon per 4 litres

Whats so Funny? Why do we final Flush, I'm assuming to clean our plant and buds from extra nutes, to make our babies as sweet and tasteful as possible. How did the nutes get into the leaves and buds?

Ever put a white caranation in red ink and end up with a peppermint caranation, otherwise know as the straw effect (I made that up). But it seems to me if you final flush for a couple of days, then let her dry out a little and then sweeten the crap out of her, some of the dang plant is going to draw up sugar. Now wether or not that would be good for the smoke , I have know Ideal. But I do know sometimes when you put a sweet Swisher Sweet in your mouth and taste sweetness in the tobacco its kinda kool. Crazy I know....But food for thought.:-P

the only thing I ever flushed was my toilet after a shit and my buds smell and taste unbelievable. i have been using sweet raw, but will be trying strapped by botanicare. he is also correct about sugars and soil. the sugars feed the soil, the soil feeds the plant

You cannot flush anything from a plant. You can flush a turd from a toilet though. Flavor buds with additives, still funny as fuck. Horticulture and botany folks, not forum BS, thats what grows tasty buds....

Your carnation example does not apply here. Thats the stem wicking. Totally different from what the roots do......

Its un fermented sugars(improperly dried and cured bud)not nutes that cause the black ash and crackle-pop folks bitch about. Nothing to do with flushing.....

Hehe ..Swisher sweets are still koool.....Im just saying if you want to flavor the buds, you can, what I did not say would be the outcome of the smoke.

im guessing by my pics my baby is far enough along to add molasses.View attachment 2185072View attachment 2185073 would this kind of molasses work out just fine http://www.ebay.com/itm/Grandmas-Original-Molasses-12-oz-/370261797906?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563552ac12? oh yeah right now my ph is about 6.9 7 ish what can i do to lower it just a lil bit????? HElp:shock:
I use molasses, 1 tbp per gallon in Veg and 2 TBP in Flower, great addition to my nutes, Foxfarm. Some do not use in Veg but I do with 2 tbs of Brown Cane and/orSucanat. Always use sucanat if you want sweet leaf. Flush without sugar for 5 days before Harvest, Smoke!

Supertramp is correct. the root system of a plant is a powerful filtration system. the plant's roots take up only what the plant wants, and leave the rest (with a few exceptions). You could drown your plant in fruit juice, kool-aid, or Dr Pepper and the plant will only die, not taste of your flavouring additive. Sugars, carbohydrates, complex volatile organic compounds and esters (flavour ingredients) or magic potions stay in the soil. The complex sugars can feed beneficial organisms, like bacteria or fungi, but are irrelevant to your plant's interests. If you're growing in hydroponics or a sterile soilles mix (coco and perlite for example) all youre doing is making a hospitable environment for unwanted germs and fungus, necessitating expensive countermeasures. In living soil systems, molasses (including the sulphured ones, sulphur is also a necessary nutrient for plants) bring a panoply of trace elements to the party, and the sugars simply feed your friendly bacterium and fungi. A healthy soil full of home grown compost and worms shouldnt need much if any molasses, and certainly you should never use sugar water, corn syrup, maple syrup, or any of that other stuff. Molasses is all the "impurities" extracted from sugarcane during sugar production. It tastes good because its full of all the potassium phosphorus, nitrite compounds, iron, cadmium, boron, copper, and other materials the sugar cane pulled from the soil to ensure a healthy plant. Adding this to a living soil ecosystem adds these essential trace minerals and other groovy stuff to the soil, and eventually your plants. a little molasses diluted in several gallons of water once a month or so will make larger more fragrant flowers, bigger fruits and healthier plants, but too much will kill your garden like a runaway lawnmower.

tobacco products, (like swisher sweets or pipe tobacco, etc) are flavoured during the curing process by spraying on the appropriate flavour compounds (my favorite is rough cut burley and bright with a spray of kentucky bourbon, yum!)

you could conceivably flavour your buds in the same way, but any alcohol, or oil (just about any flavouring compound you can imagine) will dissolve your THC. nobody flavours their weed (except crooks) for this reason.

Clarification: I almost never give any plant molasses, unless the particular plant needs the trace elements. good soil should have everything your plants need, except eventual replacement of depleted nutrients (NPK, the trace elements arent depleted for years).

View attachment 2185422UN-Sulfured Molassas helps to encorage micro- organisms to thrive in your soil micros love sugars. micros in your soil help to break down those nutes that are NOT readily available to the plant roots. A teaspoon in a couple gal every couple of weeks will get the job done. sulfred molassas will not be healthy to your plants. NO sugar or micros grow in the sulfur. So many people out there talking and suggesting things they have no clue about. Also when you mix your molassas tea make sure you let your water sit over night to dissapate the clorine/ free clorimines from the water. Bleach also kills micro orginizms. I use Un-Sulfured molassas every time I feed, I make a nute tea from guano and worm castings, and molassas. I let it bubble with a fish pump and air stone for a few days, then feed directly, also you can strain "tea" and dillute by a 1/4 for folliar feeding but learn to do this before you attempt this. Try it out on a leaf or two first to avoid burning. If your just getting started let me suggest Greg Green's "The Cannabis Grow bible".
I rarely use molasses in my garden, but when i do, i use sulphured molasses. many plants need sulphur, but soil amendments, potting mixes and most fertilizers dont ave any. unless the concentration is dangerously high (smelling like burnt matches) then sulphur wont be a problem for your soil, or it's organisms. I preferr Brer Rabbit, its what my grandmother always got. it tastes better than the others to me, but youll only be tasting the molasses on pancakes or sometimes waffles, not weed.

i use molasses and pure sugar cane honey, i start using them at 1tb per 2 liters, every 2 weeks, from the day i start flower to finish.

no it wont makes buds fatter, and no it wont make buds frostier. what it does do, is provides rich carbs and sugar for the bacteria INSIDE THE DIRT, this bacteria then gives off aminoacids and proteins that make buds fatter and frostier ;-)

Check out the organics section, theres an ongoing recipe list listed on my signature, the organics one obviously

This is what the Growers Book says.......and then again there is always the Placebo effect.

Yet another topic often debated by many Cannabis growers, is whether or not adding ingredients like Molasses, Honey, or Sugar Water increase a plants health, and quality of the buds it produces.
In the following article, we are going to go over the different uses growers claim sugar based products have in the Marijuana grow room, and how you can use it to grow better Cannabis.
What Does Sugar Do for Marijuana Plants?

There are 4 primary reasons most growers report using sugars in their Cannabis grows.

  • It sweetens the flavor of your smoke
One of the most touted reasons to use sugar in your cannabis grows is to increase the flavors of your buds. This is something we have experienced firsthand in some of the grows we have been a part of in the past. However many other growers suggest that sugar does not improve the flavor of smoke at all, and that this is just a myth.
  • It helps to bulk up the buds
Another benefit claimed to be a myth by some growers, and to be fact by others, reportedly adding sugar to your Cannabis grows will increase the size of your buds. We have experienced some of our biggest buds while use sugar in our nutrient programs. However without a proper scientific control we can’t give you any exact numbers yet.
  • It helps to harden the buds
Some growers suggest that by using sugar you can actually increase the hardness of the Marijuana buds. While not as widely accepted, this may be a case of strain specific results, and not as easily duplicated.
  • It feeds enzymes and other beneficial bacterium's in the grow media
One of the only benefits not debated is the usefulness of sugar in soils or mediums that have an active living root system filled with Mycorrhizae. Sugars and carbohydrates help to feed the colonies of bacteria to keep them healthy, a byproduct of which is healthy plants.
  • What Do Mycorrhizae Eat?

Mycorrhizae feed on carbohydrates and sugars, like glucose and sucrose. Most plants naturally create the carbohydrates to feed their fungal friends.
However, it is important to note, that the Cannabis plant diverts sugars from feeding the Mycorrhizae in its roots to building buds. It’s at this time that there is a potential for your Mycorrhizae to die from starvation.
Adding sugar during flowering prevents Mycorrhizae starvation, keeping your plants happy.:-P

Bobs post pretty much just points out the debate already being discussed. Nothing conclusive other than it does feed the soil microbes. Which it seems we all agree on that...the rest is the same 3 speculations....

Molasses is simply a sugar source for the microhizzae in the soil. If you run hydro or chemical nutes it's probably not going to help much. In organic soil, however, it's great. The micros eat the sugar and release the NPK for the plant. I use it every few waterings with good results.
