Mold after 8 months of storing

Now what the F$%K do I do now??? I harvested in October '09 very good yeild. I hung them in a moister controlled environment for a week and a half then trimmed them down to nice clean nugs and let hang in paper bags for another week and they were twig snappin dry. I stored them in 1gal glass jars clear full to keep as much air outta the jar as possible and then put them in large cardboard boxes to keep out any light.

Fast foward to a couple of months ago. I went down to get some nugs and WTF 1 jar was all hairy and shit from mold so there is about 1lb wasted, after that horrific adventure I took all of the remaining bud out and spread it out on paper bags with a light fan breeze blowin to get rid of any lingering moister. I re-jared them with soda crackers too and put em back to bed.

Yesterday I checked on the batch and shit, god%$@*, mother f*%$#3r more mold in 1 of the jars.

WTF can I do so I don't lose anymore??? Please help

IMO all yo can do now is to dry it even More!! keep it in the fridge but light block the jar and try to get some silica packs to keep in the jar with the bud to suck up any extra moisture. rice works in the same way put a bunch of rice in a coffee filter tape it closed and keep it in the jar. hope you can save it!!

I would say keep it in some light, mold needs 3 things to grow, dampness, darkness, food source.
take away any one and it can't grow.

I've never dealt with this problem yet, but I'd say you need to get the remainder out of the jars and dry as a cracker. If there is too much moisture in the buds, the jars are just acting as nice lil petri dishes.... heat/humidity + enclosed space with no fresh air is gonna be prime for mold to develop and thrive. good luck and keep us posted.

Stupid question....did you ever burp the jars after putting the bud in them? Or did you just jar it up and store it?

I always thought you dont fill the jars all the way to the tip top. You have the extra space in the top of jar to keep the air from getting stale.

I always cure mine for 2-3 weeks anyway...ok, I've got bigger jars than needed, but I've never encountered mold (I dont think...) - just make sure you burp the jars 2-3 times daily for half a hour a go for 2-3 weeks (even after its dry can't hurt - even if your not smoking for ages (like say a couple months or weeks after curing's done), once every now and then just open the jar for a few mins to admire the smell and have a good ol' sniff of your harvest) I mix with tobacco so I PREFER my buds bone dry/nearly crumbling...after its in the grinder it basically becomes powder, which to me means it lasts longer

all your bud in that same jar is ruined!
you do not want to smoke spores! Gross!
I heard somewhere having silver in your container helps kill certian bacteria and molds from happening as fast.
Also you may want to store it with silica gel packet to absorb moisture.
Next time dry your herbs well and make sure the stem of all your largest colas snap all the way through. Then it is good enouigh for storage, also put it in the fridge, not the freezer and yes vacuum seal and take all the oxygen out.

The last several posts all have great advice. Those jars should never be full and they need burping. If you are going to store for more than a month or two, fridge it.

you can make canna butter also. Personally I'd puff it if there was no visible mold on the other buds. I'd roll a fat one and never look back
