Mold and alge on rockwool.

Im pretty sure I read somewhere that these things are normal on a hydro system where the lights come in direct contact with the media,
but I was just gonna try to get some opinions.

Is that what this is in this picture?

yep........... that actually doesn't look like it's too bad..... mine is way worse than that.

all u guys have to do is cover up the rockwool with some paper or cardboard. if thier's no light than thier's no algae. i cut me some cardboard into little circles to cover the bottom of my plants cuz i was having the same problem except for the mold problems. but that should go away too. just stir some of the rockwool around.

I would, but since it doesn't hurt the plant any, I'm not worried about it, it just looks nasty.

My local hydro shop is open late here so ill probably go pick up some mylar covers for them but will that effect the amount of water getting to the plants?
