Mold infested stem? Please help me

Hey guys,

It's week 9 into veg (I had to extend 1 more week because I broke the top 3/4 of the stem & I want to let it heal before going into flowering), and yesterday I switched from fluorescent to a 400W HPS.

With that much light around, I was horrified to see the bottom part of my stem be what seems to me eaten by mold.

This is my 1st grow. My little baby is a C99.

I cut the first 3 nodes because they seemed dead, and a few leaves were covered with a white powder that seems to me like mold.

The rest of the stem looks very healthy, but this bottom part looks scary.
I think it's because the drooping system (the brown circle) sprays it with water.

Is my plant going to be okay? Is it going to be smokeable?
I'm really worried, I invested so much heart into this, killing her would be like euthanizing my own child.

Thanks for your help!!

She will be fine. Get some neem oil spray and give her a good dose of that after you gently wipe the white powdery mildew off. Neem is both a preventative and a curative for several species of bugs/mold/mildew. Happy growing!

Thanks! I'll buy it right away.
By the way, should I be worried about dying leafs at the lower nodes?

And one more thing - I broke the stem trying to tie her down, so as I was advised by the kind people in this forum I taped her up and tied her to a stake. That was a few days ago and she almost recovered completely. But now that I switched to a 400w lamp I tried to bend her a little and tie her again so she doesn't come close to the light, but she broke again at the same point as last time. Can she recover from a 2nd break at the same point?

man I wouldn't count on it being fine, you're just opening yourself up for root rot and or fungus gnats, keep all vegetation out of your rocks at the very least. Forget the neem and get some h2o2 and sterilize that shit.

That shit looks way too wet at the stem. You might have stem/root rot as the rockwool is probably staying soaked. That stuff sucks in my book. That thing should be way bigger for 9 weeks. What is your feed schedule? What is the medium- just hydroton with the rockwool or anything else? Is it always that wet?

My local store doesn't sell h2o2 so i'll go with the neem ;)
Keeping my fingers crossed.

BTW does it hurt my baby if I cut her dying leaves?

Yeah it's really wet. I feed her for a 15 minutes drip for every 1 hour, during the 18h period only. The rockwool is really wet. I'm just realizing now that my medium (a 30 liters pot) may contain a water level way too high than I need.

Can I treat stem rot?

so I guess you may as well put neem oil in the reservoir like the dude above advised eh? Not me. Get some h2o2 at the local drug store, the 3 percent is fine just make sure it has no perfumes or additives.

Whoops, she not 9 weeks old by 8 weeks - today is her 60'th day birthday.
I really hope she's not going to die on me :(

dbkick, can you tell me exactly how I treat her with the h2o2? Do I need to add it to the water? I'm a complete noob.

Yeah sorry. At the doctors office you could do a pint pet 5 gallons safely I think. And yes the 29 percent will hurt you and it mixes a 2-3 ml per gallon as stated above
