Mold on soil

I just noticed what looks like a light whispy white mold starting to grow on top of my soil. MY humidity is 60% and temp is 68F. Is this anything I should be concerned about?

Maybe, pics would help for sure. How oftern are you watering? You should always let the top of soil get very dry before you water again.

Yeah from what i kno it sounds like to much mositure for to long. If u show pic when ever you ask questions people will have the answers so much faster. But we all just quessing blind. u kno

I'll get a pic up next chance. I don't water more than twice a week. I always wait till it feels very light, but I'm not so sure the I would call the top of the soil "very dry". Odd thing is that this is only happening to 1 out of 4.

Well so much for a picture. I scraped off about 1/4" of the top of the soil and the mold hasn't come back.

I'd bet that the root system on the plant getting the mold isn't as far along as the others and so the water in the soil is not dissapating as quickly. The worst thing that could happen is it starts to affect the stem of the plant close to the soil level. You could re-pot this one to help it dry out quicker.

Yer the mold is harmless, i get it if i overwater or soil stays wet for long periods, makes my jiffy cubes look like they need hair sometimes. The fungus is always there in the soil and air it just dosent establish without long periods of moisture. Peace

White mold is usually not an issue. My batches of super soil often have white mold after 'cooking' for a month or so.

happens to me too, i get a white/yellowish mold on the very top layer of my dirt all the time. just to be on the safe side, i use a fungus/rot/mold killer, every 20 days or so, at 1/2 strength, i pour some into the soil, and spray onto the plant (i dont spray this once im in flowering tho).

wouldnt be too alarmed. humidity does seem a bit high to me tho

Yer guys you should really be looking to solve the cause of the mold wether it be humidity or too wet soil etc etc Grows arent meant to have mold of any kind on them, means you made ideal conditions for mold which generally arent condusive for pot growing.

I know i said its harmless but given the right conditions and time and it will start becoming a bad problem plus other fungus and bacteria will start to develop shortly after. Please dont go round saying i said white mold is good for your soil or plants because what i meant is if it pops up its initially harmless but it tells you that certain variables need changing. Simply treating the mold is not good enough as it will dissapear with the right conditions.

Been a long time but if i remember correctly isnt the white mold forms of yeast, probably wrong but not trolling google to find out. Peace

Not great, reduce humidity which is easily done unless your growing in a rainforest and concentrate on getting more drainage in the soil or faster wet and dry cycles that wont allow mold etc to get a foothold.
