Mold prevention?

Ya . I had perfect conditions, airflow and humidity. Still got it tho. I'm assuming topping would help so the buds won't be so thick. My buds on this one grow were massive thicker than a soda can. No bs

Powdery Mildew or mold? I used some of that Bonide Copper spray but there are a lot of things you can use for PM.

Bud rot? Try using cloth pots. They really seem to work well if you are growing in soil or some form of coco. Also see chunky stool's post above.

Fans and dehumidifiers too.
Good idea! Ya I hear everyone rave about smartpots

used to use smart pots for every pot . now I only use them on 20 gallon pots just because they have handles . if I need to move . there is not difference between a cheap plastic bag vs smart pot .

You might spend $1 more versus plastic pots. You can get 5 lb'ers cloth w handles in a 5 pack for $11.95 on eBay and Amazon. The cloth pots are so much better than plastic. The roots are better off, they breathe, hard to over water, stay cooler.

If you have a lot of plastic pots, drill some small holes in the side of them. I saw some dude do that in a thread. Probably not worth the hassle.

But smart pots breathe whereas a plastic bag wouldn't, right?

mold with the humidity under 45 and a good fan running 24 /7 is about impossible . unless your plants are sitting on a wall or tent that is stopping air flow . what is your set up ?
I don't have a setup now. But I'm speaking of a previous grow, but u kno wat. I did overwater them

your just going to have to do a side by side . to see if there is a difference . plastic vs smart . my experience the smart are a total waste of money , and they do sell a off brand smart pot for about 70 % less then smart pot . still costing about 3 bucks for a 5 gallon and the plastic will cost 30 cents . and the plastic have very small hose to let the plant breath .

Where can I get 5 gallon plastic pots for 30 cents? I'll take a hundred!
I use both. They have advantages and disadvantages.
My current favorite is a DIY hybrid called "Hillbilly Air Pot".
