Moon phase and plant growth

i had a conversation about this with my grandpa today. he said under certain phases, you can put a board over grass, and after a while it will be brown. but other phases it will still be green. also seeds grow better under certain phases. any truth to that? he goes to church every sunday, so his truth finding skills arent the greatest lol.

he thinks it has to do with gravity. but i really dont think the pull of gravity changes very much with altering moon phases. plus gravity isnt very strong...

anyone got info on this? not trying to start an argument over this. i just want some info because im interested in how it works, if it does.

I think many; many things are tied to the phases of the moon. I don't think a lot of truth will be found at church. Sorry. Don't want to offend. My church is about 20 feet out my back door. Just as the sun controls the day, the moon controls the night. IMHO

how does it control the night? what force does this? lower light levels than the sun? gravity? cant think of anything else atm

Horses can only be castrated on a full moon or they'll bleed to death. Gravity
Little something called a harvest moon not sure what it is but I've heard plenty.
High tide low tide moon controls oceans.
Warewolfs
Accent people celibate moon cycles and days were kept by the moons not suns.
As for the seeds all crops are planted by the moons as the full moon pulls the seedlings thru the soil back in the day farmers almanac very important tool look it up

An easy way to remember is a waxing moon=faster growth, less root development. waning moon= slower growth but faster root development
Some people like to harvest the last day of a waxing moon as this is when the plant is vigourous and still at full bloom.

This is what ive read as well. waxing(getting bigger) plants grow mostly above ground. and then waning its mostly underground.

and if youve actually seen how far the tides go in and out youll kindof understand just how much influence the moon has. its a bigger part of nature than most people think.

The moon has little or no effect on most plants. There are exceptions. Some corral and marine life reproduce in tune with the moon cycles. And there are a few plants whos life cycle is affected by the moon phases, but it much more of an exception than it is a rule...

I would like to see scientific data concering the waxing/waining growth theory.

I've worked on a ranch separating cows so a vet could turn bulls into steers and he never worried about the moon phase. He was more concerned about keeping the dogs from stealing the severed nuts out of bucket. The vet was a big fan of Rocky Mountain Oysters, and took the nuts as part of his fee of service. :-(

have you ever tried it on the wrong moon phase? or have you just always done it on a full moon because people told you to do it that way?
couldnt you put a rubber band on it to stop bleeding?

U use the bands to slowly let the sack rot off never used on a horse, I have never seen a horse cut on a non full moon in my life people round here would shun u or wosre if u did. The res I'm from been ranching since the early 1800. And from further inquired even a vet won't cut a horse unless its a fullmoon it will bleed out internally stitches just rip.

No its a fact if u castrated a horse without a full moon it will bleed to death the moon helps slow the bleeding no bs.
Raised horses my entire life, that is total BS. You can nut a horse anytime you want too. I guess your vet just prefers the night shift. Show us scientific data backing up your bogus claim.

gravity is not so strong? if you put jars on em, grape preserves preferably, and toss a pizza in the mail box... that will prove it, i read it on wikipedia
