so are you saying that i should just mix the two separate and add them at different times or are you saying that i should stop adding nutes when i start adding molasses?

VM knows his shit but I have mixed my molasses (1 tbs) in 1 gallon of water with Superthrive (1/4 tsp). Also administered ferts twice, all at the same time with no obvious adverse effects. I suppose you could apply separately just to be safe.

I use molasses and my other nutrients together with great results. I use 1 tablespoon per gallon right along with my budding nutrients, all the Foxfarm stuff - Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha Ching (I don't use it with Open Sesame - too soon). I start adding molasses as soon as buds start forming.
Usually about 2-3 weeks in. The plants jizz all over themselves. So beautiful!

Both you, and hearmenow, could both use a lil more, like double what yr using now. I think it's 2 tablespoons per gallon.
Peace

Thanks, VM. I'll double the molasses. Feeding time is tomorrow again. By then I will also be adding the Foxfarm products. My buds are well defined already but a little smallish (probably about a dime size in diameter). This after 2 weeks in 12/12. It's time to pump these babies up!!

lets hear more... one of my favorite posts to date. this info is valuable on so many levels, including one of the biggies, saving money. awesome stuff, lets hear some more reports. im just 3 days into my grow, but i will choose to feed molasses to all but one plant to see if that plant has a significant difference in size. itll be a while, but ill be sure to share what i find.

Hey guys I was at whole foods and I picked up blackstrap molasses, but I also found Pomegranate molasses as well. The nutrient content is a little different but I took a taste of the stuff and wow! Now if I can get some of those flavors into my bud it would be incredible!
I used 50/50 blackstrap and pomegranate and the trichromes have taken off in 24 hours! I did some reading that said that citric acid is good for plant metabolism and from the taste of the pomegranate molasses it has that tang to it. Anyways thought that I would post that...

I just gave them they're first feeding of Grandma's yesterday and I havent seen anything new happen yet..maybe bcuz Im 6weeks into flowering right now? and if its true they only utilize it from weeks 4-6 then Im thinking its almost pointless by now. I'll keep it up thru week 8 and see what happens..

Heya vidman...

re this: <I wouldnt use the two together, mix up your molasses when yr not using yr nutes.>

I don't think it makes a difference my friend. If i were worried I might back off on the nutes a bit and add in a bit of mollasses in instead, but using them together should be OK considering MANY organics use molasses in their formulations.(EJ, BioBizz, PBP to name a few)

The reason the molasses works is twofold. It has iron, calcium and mg in it that promotes green growth in most cases, and it also gives the microherd of beneficial microbes in the soil something to feed on..and in turn..aids in boosting root mass/growth and nutrient uptake.

Of course, if you use sterilized soil, pre-ferted soil, or chemical nutes like Miracle Groan or Dicked (Peter's) you have no microbes to feed...so any benefit is from the micronutes in solution itself.

good luck

Im sorry for even doubting you! its been 2 days since I started using the molasses and my buds have almost doubled in length! they grow more everyday! and Im coming to the end of week 6, I didnt think it would do anything honestly! I wasnt sure how fast the roots suck food from the soil, but its definitely working!

Thanks videoman, I have to say this thread is probably one of the most helpful posts (for me anyways) you have ever made (IMO), hopefully it has found its way into the GrowFAQ till time indefinite!
thanks!
:peace:

Well Videoman I started using molasses as you recommended starting yesterday. That marked 4 weeks of flowering and I mixed 3 Tablespoons with 1 Gallon of water. I saw you recommended 2 Tablespoons and High Times recommended 4, so I went with 3. :) I will water this entire week, then stop for a week, then go on for another week, etc. Plant looks fine and I noticed a nice little smell coming from it as well. I'll keep ya updated. Thanks for the tips as always.
