More room to grow...

Ok i just finished making a grow box out of some rubbermaid drawers. It stands 2 feet and 1 inch tall. It is probably just as wide as that and probably half as deep as that (2 x 1 x 2 ft). I am have 6 26w soft white cfl's in there at the moment, I can't remember the lumens but i know it is over 5000 total. When I first put a seedling in it, I am going to put the small red cup with the seedling in it on an upside down planting pot in order to get it close to the light. As it grows, I will transplant it into that planting pot and simply put it in the bottom of the box. However, as it grows I was thinking about making some sort of table with a whole in it for the plant to come through. I would place this on top of the bucket with some sort of supports on the outside that are standing on the ground like table legs. The grow box would then be placed on this "table" that I would probably make out of white foam board like the rest of the grow box. Would this set up give me enough room to complete the grow? Also any low-cost recommendations are welcome. I was also thinking of LST'ing and possibly a SCROG. I've attached a picture of the box, I know it's a haggard set up but I'm being optimistic. :) And sorry for the poor quality picture, it's a camera phone :/

nice grow box, it might be a tad cramped if you're planning to put 2 girls in there

get some Mylar 2mm for inside the box
it's cheap and highly reflective

mylar was probably going to be my next cheep "upgrade".... does my idea for creating more room to grow sound like it will work to you? as soon as the plant starts to get too big to just be sitting inside the box, i was going to create some sort of platform or table with a big circular hole cut out in the middle for the top of the planting pot to come through. this would leave two feet above the top of the pot for the plant to grow. I am wondering if this sounds like it will work??? :)

Sounds like it would work just fine to me, but I would recommend having something to cover the pot that sticks through as well.

My mate is building a small box and is planning to do the same (drop pots through holes in the bottom so only an inch or so of pot is in the box and the rest is below it.

Yes it does sound like it will work, but you will probably have to flower just as your plant reaches 12inches so you can have that extra foot or so for flowering phase growth. You also have to catch all the light leaks, there may be some near the bottom where the pots come into the grow box but that can be easily fixed with household materials, perhaps cloth
