is there anything special I should know bout nutes? I.E. does the plan need a different fert over time assuming it never leaves it veg stage? or will like a 20-20-20 do?
thx

I would say if the plant is going to live a long time in that soil, it would needa hydropnic forumla to replace all the micro nutrients. since these nutes have everything the plants need to live.

I only keep mums for about 6-8 weeks before I replace them with one of their progeny. Not really long enough to get them seriously nutrient deficient!

A higher N figure (i.e. 30-10-10) would serve you better than 20-20-20 for vegging.

nitrogen, replished or change soil, trim roots.

i grow bonsai mums. read an article about it a few years ago. i flower 20 at a time so i'm not getting big #'s. you leave your plant low in the pot. as they grow you slowy fill in around the stalk. take cuttings until stalks are solid and pot is full. when it gets root bound, you take your cuttings, remove plant from pot, trim a couple inches off outer root ball. they used a gensue knife and laid it down and cut it into a square block. trimming off 2" from sides and bottom. replant with fresh soil allowing room to add soil to continue to bury main stalk. eventually you've buried it so far it branches off into several plants. it is said you can cut these down the middle and pot individually.

so to make a long answer short: nitrogen.

Chronic you are going to have plants that never leave the veg stage? Why?
my intention is to use one plant for cloning then with the next crop use another plant and on and on.

so if 30-10-10 is better then why say use 20-20-20?
