would muclh be good to mix wit peatmoss in five gal grow bags my cousin said it would be bad for the roots becuase its constantlly decomposing and will burn the roots but its barely mixed 60 40 to peatmoss it doesnt look bad but theres alot of mulch in five gal

also when you super crop your stems like pinching the stem til it bends over and pinch it a little are you supposed to keep it tied down so it grows straight or let it grow back up??

your cousin is correct, it should be composted first. I use 1 part mushroom compost, 1 part perlite not miracle grow, 1 part peat moss not miracle grow and 1 table spoon of dolomite lime per gallon of mix. Actually I use closer to 45% perlite it allows the soil to be aerated. Mulch would be good to use but let it compost for at least 6 or so months...

I have heard [Jorge cervantes] that mulch in your medium is bad due to decomposition lowering Ph i believe.

ha .. only perlite i could get was MG .. i wasnt too worried about it .. my plants are doing fine ...
