Multiple strains in a recirculating system

I have always heard not to run multiple strains in a recirculating system. I'm wondering if this is true or just bro-science.
It does make sense to me that different strains require different nutrient ratios, especially for flower.
What about veg? Plants are much smaller and for the most part require a similar base formula.
Could you veg multiple strains in 1 system under a smaller footprint, using less light? Example veg 12 ebb and flow buckets with 1 reservoir under 1 light in a 5x5?
Then separate them into a 5x10 tent with two 6 bucket systems for flower, using 2 different reservoirs for separate nute profiles.

So it sounds like it is mostly bro-science. As long as they are similar strains and have separate root balls or are able to harvest separately it's not a problem. Good to know others are doing it without issue. Thanks guys

I just did two strains with similar, alleged, finish times, 2 different breeders. (My mistake) 1 finished almost 3 weeks earlier than the other. First finisher was more sensitive to nutes, other seemed to take whatever i could give her. Going forward I am only running 1 strain at a time on a common rdwc system. Maybe if i had more space, 2nd or 3rd grow area and system, I would run multiple. For what it's worth.

I am going ahead with my original plan to veg all in 1 recirculating system and then split them for flower.
As stated earlier
you gotta be on top of your game with root rot. if one gets it in recirc, the others will have it sooner, not later.
If 1 strain has an issue at most it will only be half of a disaster.
Better to split them for flower when it may make some difference.

Currently running 17 or so strains on a 35 ft rolling table. one 50 gal res. TBH I do no recommend it, tricky to get them all dialed in, some indica leaners, some hazes, some mixes. But today we nailed down the 3 we are gonna run on the first real run, after this exploratory run. Strawberry Gary, OMFG, and Super Nova. Shockwave and Purple bud both very pretty, just not quite on par. 4 more weeks and we will be about finished. Looking forward to next round with only 3 successful and proven strains.

it's not bro-science, it's a legitimate concern when you have dif plants with dif nutritional needs in one system.
