Music Recommendations

k so i posted a similar thread in the Music forum, but nobody ever really goes in there soo... i was wondering if any of you knew any like psychedelic stoner drone rock or somethin like this band i found earlier.. either way its just a local act my friend put up on his myspace and thought a broader audience might know more about the music.. im kind of into alot of electronic stuff, so this is kind of new to me..

damn. i wish you had said that you were into electronic music in your other post. i saw it and started to post but didnt. anyways, you have to download some shpongle. it is probably the best music ever created. well, behind pink floyd.. if you want stoner rock, get all of floyds albums. then listen to the albums in chronological order and listen to their style span 4 decades. for added measure, listen to while on acid or mushrooms. i guarantee it will change your life. hell, i have a tattoo because of it..

The best albums to listen to whilst stoned are probably:

"Lemonjelly.ky" - lemonjelly (electronic)
"Homogenic" - Bjork (electronic)
"Piper at the gates of dawn" or "Relics" - Pink Floyd (Psychadelic rock)
"Abbey Road" - the Beatles (rock)
"Mirrored" - battles (kind of dance/electronic music but played on guitars)
"Dirty Words" - the departure (new wave...think Joy Division with a cockney accent)
"The Drift" - Scott Walker (avant-garde classical - creepy and sometimes quite alarming!)
"Bambi's dilemma" - Melt Banana (loop-based punk/avant-garde noise - this'll blow yer mind whilst stoned!)

...Focus are pretty cool too - saw them recently and came to the realisation that they basically invented "stoner rock" so its a good idea to check 'em out!

I recommend The Mars Volta. Even though they're not electronica-type, they rock and they rock hard. Check out their album 'De-loused in the Comatorium'. I'll upload it for you if you can't find it.

just downloaded the Mars Volta discography haha, this is insaneee. im surprised ive been missing these things all these years.

a friend did also recommend battles this morning, im really diggin the sound and voice sampler for 'atlas'.. great song that one.

i respect mars volta, they rock the fuck out, i just can't stand that dude's voice, wayyy too winey for me!! i watched a little of em at bonnaroo one here, but had to leave, my ears were bleeding....animal collective is pretty cool, very trippy...hmm, who else, tv on the radio is badass, chill music...black keys are good, and sts9 is some tripped out jamming, no singing at all...oh yeah, check out maps and atlases, they don't have alot of shit it, but thier really cool...

I was going to recommend the mars volta haha, nice one coyote. Explosions in the Sky are a pretty awesome band, definitely great stuff to smoke to, check it out!

I hear you man, I think they are good too but the singers voice is like someone drilling into my head after a while. :twisted:
