Mutation after topping ?

Alright thanks for the tip!! So at what point would you give up on treatment and cut away the brown parts ?
The treatments should take care of the brown parts and preserve the main shaft of the tap root but you could cut it out if you want. The parts of the roots coming out of the pots mainly act like pipelines to carry the water and nutrients up to the plant once the plants are well established. All the action happens at the tips where the fine feeder roots are. That's why when I grow in pots I saw off the bottom of the root ball every time I repot and will shave off long roots growing around the sides too. That forces feeder roots to branch off the main roots and fill the pots with a fine web of feeders that are much better and more efficient at getting food to the plants.

Roots are not the delicate creatures that many think they are. They grow back incredibly fast.

So all I could find this late at night is 3%. Should I up the dosage or stick with what you said ? Also if the peroxide is working how long until I will see clear results ?

3% has preservatives and stabilizers in it so not the best thing to use and you'd need 11X as much to get the same dosage so 22ml/L at the least. Food grade is just H2O2 and water. Turns your skin white real fast so if you get any on you rinse it off quick. I keep a spray bottle handy if down in the grow room with no running water. Wear good eye protection as well. Get that shit in your eyes and better learn braille. lol

You'll see the roots getting a lot whiter after the first or second dose. Check your roots again and see if that dark patch is getting any bigger and darker. It can move fast. A lot of folks chill the nutes with pop bottle of frozen water but then it's twice a day at least. Cooler temps will slow it right down tho so if it needs water toss in a tray of ice cubes for a quick fix. If you make some bottles up add some salt to each one so it gets colder. Pickling/rock salt is better with no iodine for some reason. 2 Tbsp/L at least.

Thanks again. I’m thinking of maybe stopping my bennies once a month and running 3-4 days of h202 as a regular maintenance since I don’t have access to hydro guard. Is this a good idea?

So you say to use the h202 treatment every 2 days for 3-4 doses. Why not every day if h202 is gone in 24 hours ?
If rot is bad then every day for sure. Right now you just need to knock it back but you could do every day for a few days too.

I always did two small doses a week when there was none and never got it so every day isn't always needed.

Hey so I’ve given 3 doses so far. New growth looks nice and that black spot went away instantly. Also a bunch of nasty stuff from the water level hose in my reservoir came out. The roots look ok to me. My nutes are very brown. What do you think ? I also just wrapped the top in foil to try to reduce water temps a little. But they aren’t awful. Usually around 70-75

Nutes can colour the water and stain the roots and that's OK. Good that the dark area went away so the peroxide is working.

70 - 75 is a little high but without a chiller it's hard to get it any lower. I like my nutes at 65 - 68 then I don't need the peroxide. I made a DIY chiller out of a water cooler years ago and that worked great.

I'd just give then 0.5ml/L now twice a week so the rot doesn't come back. Keep a close eye on it tho.

Alright thanks. I’ve been reading that h202 can be bad if you have slime and the stuff that came out of my blue tube looks pretty slimy I posted a picture above. How much did your diy chiller cost you ? Where did you get the water cooler ?

The cooler was gifted to me from my boss. They got a new one and his son-in-law never came to pick up the old one so I got it. Sat around for a few years then I turned it into a nute chiller. Took the guts out of the cooling tank at the top and filled that with anti-freeze and about 15' of a 25' roll of 3/8" clear tubing. A small fountain pump sitting in the bottom of the DWC tub pumped the nutes up through the coil and back down to the tub. Had to fiddle around with a timer on the cooler to keep the nutes from getting too cold, Plus had to dial the adjuster on the cooler down as far as it would go. I figure it could chill the nutes for about 4 tubs at once or an 8 pail RDWC system.

Total cost was $14 for the pump as I already had a coil of tubing.

Peroxide will kill and oxidize any slime so I don't know what you've been reading.

This stuff is really weird man. It’s back and there’s a lot of it. But it has no smell to it and isn’t slimy. It breaks apart into really small pieces almost like dirt? I was hoping to only be able to peroxide once a month and run my foot stimulator in between but if this stuff is bad I’ll have to forget it and always run h202. The plant seems pretty fine though..and my water temps are always in the 60’s. I’m just kinda stumped on this. Could it possibly be nothing bad at all ?

If roots are going black and falling off it's bad so you better dose them good daily for a few days to try to stop it. Don't forget to flush the pots too.
