My 164 Watt CFL Grow

This ones all about close ups everyone. 4 of the lst and 2 of the topped plant. I love the color of those hairs, especially when they haven't completely changed to full amber yet. Looks like orange soda.

Also, I've decided to finally name this strain. Through careful consideration of their both plants odor, and growth patterns, I have dubbed the strain Lemon Star. I was inclined to call the topped plant by a separate name, but since they came from the same bagseed my guess is they have the same parents, they're probably just different phenotypes. I chose it because they both seem to have a tinge of a noticable lemon, citrus quality, and because just when a new floral cluster forms, the calyxes make a star. I thought it was a good name what do ya'll think?

haha inspiration? You are a flatterer kind sir, there are many that have had better results than little old me. Thanks though, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Star Lemon? Weak sauce, I like the other way around way better haha.

yeah i thought about that, actually. i thought maybe if i just zip corded it to the roof on the side, i dont think the bulb gets hot enough to melt the plastic, maybe wrong though. but then it would not be able to be dropped close to the plants, conundrum. i think im going to add another light anyway though and the socket splitter angles them so the side faces the top of the plants at an angle.

Your right i use floss to hold mine horizontally it works fine

Dankness, I agree that this is way inspiring. I'm doing my first grow under cfls and can only hope for your results. I've got 1 female lowryder 2 in flower now, 2 lowryder seeds that just popped the surface and 3 dutch dope, 2 of which I topped today at the third node and plan to veg for another 3-4 weeks while waiting for the 1 lowryder to finish and the others to move into flower. I decided to top after seeing YOUR PLANTS! So, basically, you're a rockstar and I'll be following this grow. :)

Just thought I'd give you props for all the great info here.

You guys are just plain pleasant. Thanks for all the kind words, its good to know someone cares about the time I put into this. I have another pic update, we are about a little over a week from harvest time, so things are getting real pretty now. I took shots of both plants, I think you guys can differentiate between the two by now. I also took a pic of what the grow cab is going to look like when I have some babies vegging. Its really cool to see a side by side of the different light spectrum's. Also, I was having a hard time thinking of a way to set up a carbon filter system, it was racking my brain. Then I remembered, think smarter, not harder. I decided it would be a lot easier to pick up this cheap negative ion generator I saw the other day, which was only about 30 bucks. Its supposed to be for truck drivers to put in their sleeper, but it works great. Its not even in the cab, its right on top, and you can't smell a thing.

thats sweet, really no smell huh? Well my carbon filter just isnt cuttin it, whered you pick that up?

I bought it at a truck stop, I will omit which one for obvious reasons. I was in there buying gas and I noticed it in their electronics section. Lucky find, it works real well.

I am going to do a little shameless product promotion here. This negative ion generator is fucking cool man. I was doing some reading on them this morning, and apparently the benefits aren't limited to odor removal. They are supposed to be great for the respiratory system as well. What they do is release particles with a negative charge that attract any airborne particles, kind of like static electricity. Then all the particles form a cluster which becomes heavier than air, and they sink to the ground. So what you're left with is pure fresh air. In a lot of places in Europe hospitals are required to use them. Thats all, I just found it interesting.

Its a 65 watt man its about the size of four 26 watt bulbs. I opted for one high watt cfl as opposed to several small because lumens do not add up. having a bunch of small cfls just gives you lots of low intensity light. if you have 12 23 watt bulbs rated 1800 lumens each your plants are still only getting 1800 lumens. the larger wattage light allows a light intensity closer to 5000 lumens, which you cannot acheive no matter how many 23 what bulbs you have. plus, as i mentioned i may still add another 65 watt, this time warm spectrum light to the box. just look at the plants, they're doing just fine.

Are you certain that the CFL your using is in the right color spectrum?

No big man, I have been trying to figure out how to change my title for weeks. I keep asking, but no one will tell me. I know it can be done, because threads I'm subscribed to have had their titles changed. I don't know why I can't seem to get an answer, if you ask me its a conspiracy...

Yay I got my title changed, thanks Chiceh! Anyway, I used one 65 watt for the first couple weeks, then I switched to two 40 watt daylights and two 40 watt warm whites for the rest of veg, then I switched the daylights out for a couple 42 watt warm whites when I went into flower, so now I'm flowering under 164 watts of warm white cfl. The new veg chamber that has not been used yet has three 27 watt daylights, I think I'll add one more though just for good measure, I'll be flowering plants fairly early so thats why the wattage is lower than the flower chamber's.

How did you change your title???

I started a thread asking if anyone knew how, then a staff member, chiceh, responded. It turns out they have to change it for you, but I bet they'll be happy to oblige.

hey im using 200 watts between two plants so im expecting similar results, how much are you planning on harvesting?
