if your not an expierenced grower than dont use hydro, there really is no point, its not faster, better, blah blah, some may argue it is, but there are too many retarted people on this site.

I would use a good soil, or even Coir because Coir has no nutrients in it so u can control exactly what your plants get...

Now if your like me when i first started, then it doesnt matter what i say, ur goin hydro...

In this case, you need to be very careful and precise cuz hydro is hard. you need to have those drippers dripping water underneath your cube into the hydroton. the water temps have to stay very low, your drippers should be dripping 24 hrs... til the roots touch the water, once they touch the water take the drippers out. You need to change out your water and clean youe resevoir of algae once a week. Hopefully ur not using tap water, most tap water sucks balls. some will tell u tap is ok, but it really lowers the grow rate and yield rate...anyways, depending on your temps, light, ventialtion, strain, nutrients, and expierience, u should be able to make i t work

actually hydro is much faster and larger more yield, soil taste better suposedly,

i did hydro my first grow, yielded almost 1 lb with a 400 watt light

actually closer to 80% of a lb

so ya hydro is that way to go. specially cuz its much easier than soil since all u do is mix your shit in the water. if u mess up just drain and remix. a lot harder to fix problems in soil as you cannot get rid of the tainted soil like you can replace all your water in hydro


hydro just as easy as makin coolaid.

maybe your plants died due to the bad karma from stealing the pumps!!!!

well if ur making 8 five gallon buckets of cool aide once a week, cleaning them out then making them again, while having to move the plants around its not easier than soil, if u mess up your nutrients ur retarted, all u have to do is pour it in, and not have to worry about algae, root rot, keeping the ph balanced etc. as much...hydro is much more high maintenance. I like hydro, but for a beginner soil is more forgiving...imo

also, a high yield is more dependent on light, nutrients, strain, climate, space, and experience... soil or hydro really isnt a main factor in a large yield.

this person seems to not be too experienced, so IMO soil would be better to start with to see how the plants grow. rather than fking with hydro... just my opinion...

well for me i use GH nutes and they automatically ph themselves every time after i add nutes my PH is just right,

hydro is harder work if u dont do it properly.

I have drains and water lines in my room to make it a breeze. usually i tend to my plants about 5 min every other day.

anyway what we are arguing is opinions unless somebody is going to do a study on time and labor of soil verse hydro.

just dont want people giving misinformation saying hyro is hard or harder as in my expiriance it simple as pie

just as easy as makin koolaid

when u think about it hydro is the same as grow in soil,

except u get rid of the soil.

one less thing if you ask me


(well to be honest u replace the soil with an air pump)

My first two grows (hydro) came out great. First aerogarden then 3x3 flood w/ rockwool. Grew huge quick! You misspelled retarded... lets not me ignorant.

And to homie: stealings bad, mmm'kay.

You are going to want to cover the clear tub with aluminum tape or something so no light reaches the water. Other than that, I am on my first grow....doing a DWC kind of like yours. I had some bumps in the road, but my plants are doing great now. Just get a system down and stick with it!

Don't you think you should have read over a bit on "how to" hydroponics? Kinda seems like you jumped way ahead of yourself and you're going to keep losing plants if you stick with what you got. Take the time to learn a little bit before you get into it. They are indefinately a weed (that's when grown in soil). Its like guessing on measurements when you don't have a pH meter or a TDS. Two of the very important things to have during a hydro grow. You're light there... the 300W house light... that's gotta go. The resevoir that you have there for your plants is hopefully only for clones....As you would like to have about 5 gallons of water per in a DWC, *This is closer to the min I believe*. You're going to want to have a thermometer in your res as well as in your grow room to monitor res temps. You should also have a way of knowing how much water is in your res.

I found growing in water was alot of fun but everytime I was in to check on my plants I was always trying to "manage" my pH as it would vary after I had done my water changes. Also, if you have heat problems like I do with your grow then res temps could cause root rot and then you're down to 0 plants again.

Several coats of black fusion plastic spray paint followed by a coat or two of white.

Sleeper is right. You don't have enough water in your res. Consider adding a 2nd res and recirculate 24/7.

He/she is also correct about the light. Consider CFLs if budget is an issue. 42w CFLs are about $10 ea.
