OKAY, HERE IS THE UPDATED PICTURES OF MY PLANTS, THE LAST PICS I POSTED WAS DAY 35, ITS DAY 39 NOW. SINCE THEN IVE CHANGED LIGHTING TO TWO 13 WATT CFLS AND A CFL SPOT LIGHT LOOKING BULB. I HAVE EACH PLANT INDIVDUALLY UNDER ITS OWN LIGHT, I HAVE THEM WITHIN A 1/2 INCH OF THE LIGHT, I HAVE ADDED A HUMIDIFIER AND KEEP IT 3/4 THE WAY UP. I HAVE NOTICED BOTH PLANTS THAT HAVENT GROWN IN TWO WEEKS HAVE STARTED TO GROW, MY OWN BABI IS LOOKIN GREAT ONE LIL GREY SPOT BUT DOIN FINE AND SHE HASNT EXPERIENCED STRETCHING SO THATS GOOD, MY OTHER PLANT THAT HAS THE RETARDED LEAVES I JUST WAITED IT OUIT AND APPLIED MORE LIGHT AND ITS STARTING TO GROW AND MY STRING BEAN HAS SEEMED TO GROW MORE STRONG OF A STEM AND THICKER AND CLOSER LEAVES QUICKER. ON MONDAY I PLAN TO PURCHASE ONE 42 WATT CFL BULB FOR THE BIGGEST PLANT THEN WHEN I GET MY PAYCHECK 4-17 I AM INVESTING IN A NEW SYSTEM AND SEEDS I HOPE YOU ENJOY, COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS PLEASE. I AM LOOKING FOR A CHEAP SET UP OUTLINE.

They're awfully spindly & thin for just over a month old.
I used one CFL per plant in my early veg days, right up to mid veg, when I switched to a 200W CFL growlight, and before inducing I then went out and bought a 400W Deluxe HPS

im looking forward to ur later grow man. I've seen some cheap systems on ebay, or just search online. I saw some 1000w hps systems for like 200-300 with bulb, ballast, and reflector. My whole deal with all that cost me just 140. I lucked out I suppose but it's just basic. Will only be for like 5-10 plants anyways. Check out my journal, I haven't started but will be soon.

What kind of bulb're you actually using, incandescent, or flurescent?
If it's incandescent, it's the wrong spectrum, gives out more heat than anything else.

Keep the light at no more than a few inches away, save up your money, and as you're new to growing, buy a new 400W HPS bulb, ballast, and reflector.

I assume you're in the states, so I can't convert how much it'll cost, but over here it cost me £85.

Second hand bulbs & ballasts generally aren't a good idea, bulbs have limited life, and with age, the lumens emitted are decreased.

Do some reasearch, get some proper equipment, then try again. I remember growing a spindly sunflower, when I was a kid, didn't thicken up, just flopped over as it couldn't support itself.

If I were you, I'd be tempted to take a cutting of "your healthiest" plant, where the leaf formation is closer, use some hormone rooting powder, and see what you can salvage.

Get a cheap propergator, or put a plastic bag over it, to retain humidity.

Low watt bulbs, like you have, are ok for this purpose, as the plant won't be intesively photosynthesizing, it'll give the plant chance to form a root formation.

Hopefully the plant'd be healthier, and not 2 stretched.

Also, it looks like you are growing in a gatorade jug? Clear containers aren't good for growing because roots hate light.

AHAHAHAHA STUNTED!!! next time my suggestion would be try buying flowers or even better tomatoes... tomatoes would have even died in that condition or looked really pathetic. I'm guessing u never grew b4 or u been moving that real shitty downtown weed that comes from "arizona". lmao

okay, i have noted great improvement for day 40, ever since moving my lights closer to the top of my plants, my babi plant which was stunted for two weeks has started to grow bigger leaves closer to eachother and still small it looks great, my retareded leaf plant that has two ugly retarded leaves i thought was gonna die has grew two new bigger leaves, my biggest 45 day old plant the top has grown alot thicker and its starting to get green shoots in the nobes i guess, is that new leaves growing, or is it time to sex. i have my biggest plant and retard one under 2 - 13 watt cfls, on monday im gonna purchase a 42 watt cfl bulb for 9.99 it gives off 2700 lumens and im going to assign that light to my biggest plant and i think im gonna see 400 percent improvement, everything has been better with my plants since ive moved them closer to light. i will take more pictures after i get the 42 watt cfl bulbs wish me luck im really excited, and if this doesnt work im gonna scrap the project and start over after 4-17

Growing Passion, I want you to listen to me now.

If you're really that hell bent on growing that piece of cooked spaghetti, providing the formation of leaves being pretty close, use as a cutting.

Get a propergator, or use a clear plastic bag to retain humidity, and use one of your low powered CFL's so that the "Plant" can spend some quality time forming a root formation.

You'll need some hormone rooting powder, or gel.

Cut the stem at a 45 degree angle, also bear the near - by stalk a bit thus causing a better rooting area.
