My 400w HPS Ballast WILL run HPS AND MH!?!?!?!?!? Any cons?

All fine. Most ballasts will fire up both (conversion bulbs sometimes required). $45 good deal..... is it NEW ? If not throw those bulbs away and buy new ones as they'll be past their life span.
24hrs a day... pointless. Anything over 18 hrs will make no difference in growth rates or anything. NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU. If I beat you with a stick 24hrs a day.. think you'd perform well lol

Good to hear about the light! The MH are new and the HPS looks like it was used a little but looks very fresh too. Anyway to test to see if they are still "good"?

I have always done 24hr veg and 12/12 bloom. Are there any advantages of the 18hr veg cycle besides less energy use?

LoL i agree, 24 hours for lights is only useful for clones for like a week after transplanting.. and even then im assuming. n e ways.. that is a sick as deal man good job. i have actually purchased the plantmax bulbs and am currently using them, they are awsome! i purchased 2 400watt MHs and 1 1000watt MH.. they are both 7200k spectrum and i believe the 400s are 40,000 lumens, and my 1000watt is 120,000 lumens. i purchased them at my local grow shop, very helpful ppl.. i talked to them about conversion bulbs, dual spectrum bulbs, blah blah blah going in there originally wanting to order an eye hortilux "BLUE" MH bulb and they said that the plantmax bulbs have a longer life spand by like a couple thousand hours (forget exactly) and they are actually a higher blue spectrum being 7200k. plus they were only $30 (400s), so i can imagine how cheap they'd be if i went to the manufacturer..

i have a similar question being i need a 1000watt HPS bulb for my MH ballast.. and i dont know what my ballast needs being just a reg. HPS bulb or a conversion bulb.

i believe that the plants stretch at night (some ppl say they need sleep, but they are infact not sleeping) and grow foliage during the day.. of course not so specifically but, thats what ive noticed.

Yep plants DO NOT SLEEP... but hell we all need a rest

Ive grown 24/0 and it is pointless to 18/6 when you can go for 24 hrs...aslong as you are giving the plant everything it needs youll be fine..Think of it like this..you got a major project going on with tons of workers,wouldnt you rather them work 24 hrs to accomplish your goals faster?

But different people prefer different ways.

I figured there would be mixed responses about that. I've read a few books and they all said to do 24 - 12/12 so thats what I did. Im still doing 24 on unless someone can give me some FACTS.

agreed, ive done the same for 18/6 becuz thats what ive read. saves me electricity. etc.

No it does not save you any electricity, fool.....

The plant grows when the light is on, not when its off. Now, say you need 1 week of veg time to get your clones where you need before flipping to flower....

24 hours a day for 7 days = 168 total hours needed to reach your goal

18 hours a day for 7 days is only 128 hours, you are losing 2 ENTIRE DAYS of time before you can even start flowering at the same size.

You morons doing 18/6 are just delaying your harvest, unless that's not your goal then you're not a moron
