My AeroGarden Setup + Questions

OK im going to post some pictures below of my setup and 3 plants that i have some questions about here it goes.

1-Is this AeroGarden light enough light for them? i hope it is because im limited on space and don't have more outlet space right now.\

2-What is the correct pH level for the water to be at? right now i think its at around 6.0 maybe a little lower. today i picked up a pH test for my freshwater fish tank i assume it works fine for the AeroGarden as-well. if i need to change the pH how do i go about doing that i have pH UP and DOWN drops now but that's for a freshwater fish tank i don't know if that's bad for this use.

3-Do my babies look healthy? Ive looked at other growers pictures and they look greener mine are looking more on the yellow side now its scaring me. also the leafs are becoming brown/crispy and when they do that i tend to snip them off is that OK?

4-Nutrients. i got nutrients with the AeroGarden but i used them once and my plants looked horrible. they were full green before i used them and then they looked like they started to die so i haven't given them nutrients since then and they have been recovering kind-of.

5-i also have the lighting and watering scheduel on Herbs/Basil thats a setting of the AeroGarden should i be using a different setting im not sure how much time the light is on but its on from before 6 in the morning till after 9 at night i believe is that alright?

Thanks for all the help Guys/Girls :] :leaf:

In my limited experience I think they are stretching for the light way too much, also
"haven't given them nutrients since"?

Are you giving them just plain water?
Plain water is not enough if you are doing hydroponics, there is no soil so the plant can't pull nutes out of thin air.

I'm not 100% sure but I'd love to see some other answers on this so I can learn as well for future reference.. but my guess

As for light schedual 12 hours light and 12 hours dark for flowering and people usually do something like 20 light 4 dark or 18-6 or just 24 hours light for vegging.

How old are these?

EDIT: Awww are those little bears at the bases? That's adorable :D
Double Edit: Maybe you should put something on the walls to reflect more of the light? I'd avoid tinfoil though, something with a nice white finish would work fine. My closet had white paint on the walls.
Triple Edit: Do you know wattage on the bulbs?

my parents are not to happy with me growing but its the second time Ive tried the first time i had stuff up like tinfoil and stuff and it looked bad i guess my parents were mad and they beat up the set up :[ so now im using this there still not happy but there not beating it up cause its expensive i just got the walls painted a light Gray and im hoping i can leave it there with no tinfoil or anything because it looks nice how its placed if it looks bad my parents will make me get rid of it ahahah :[ the gray walls reflect pretty nice though you cant tell in pictures but were the light hits the walls looks basically white and it reflects a lot.

and yes its little bears ahaha i was grabbing some things at the store one day and i saw a box of these so i got 3 different color bears one for each plant :D

I'm waiting for the seeds for my 3rd 'sucessful' grow soon.
Not too bad for your second time, my second time they didn't even make it past their first two baby leafs.

If you are really very new to this I would suggest trying soil first, much more stable and easier to handle than jumping straight into Hydro I think... I'm gonna try my first Hydro with some clones in my next grow.

Not sure but maybe you can try to transplant them to soil? Then you won't have to worry about the complexities of Hydro. Once you are comfortable and know what the plant will do and what to expect you can whip out the Aero again and who knows maybe parents won't be a thing by then?

Looks like nute burn indeed. Try flushing with clean water for a week then start over with 1/4 strenght nutes working up to full strength. The lights are too high that's why it's stretching. Cover those holes!!! You don't want light in your reservoir it'll cause all kinds of problems. pH should be a little under 6.0. More lights is more better in general, just watch for heat problems. I'd look for info on training/pruning those so that they can branch out some as you are at about the right stage for topping if you're into that. Actually you're past time for topping if you're interested in it. I think the tomato setting is the move for the pump, but if you've got a good airstone you wont be needing the pump anymore. Did you read the guides that are sticky at the top of this forum?

i dont want to do soil again its to messy for them... and the reason they havnt hit my plants with the bat again is because i told them the aerogarden isnt mine ahaha so they dont want to break someone elses thing if anything thell just hurt the plants but yea i think i can handle the garden i take care of it every day

and yea i allready did a flush since the last time i put nutes in i washed out the water and put in new water so its all clean no nutes in there right now i have a airstone and pump going so thats all set and i checked the ph today and it was right around 6 it looked lighter then 6 but yea i think the ph is good.

drain out your res and this time mix your nutrients in a gallon jug, add 1/2 of the nutes that the directions say to use and then PH the water to 5.7 - 5.8. The leaves wont go back to green, but your new growth will be fine.

Your light will veg and flower the bud, but stronger high output lights will give you a better yield.

Hydroponic related problems almost always come from over feeding and incorrect PH. Very few people kill their plants by under feeding them. It is better to error on the side of less nutrients and then experiment upwards.

Just remember, you never fail, you only learn. :D

As for parents I waited until I moved out before I even started smoking. Now I have my own apt, pay my own bills, and grow my own Cannabis, only 21 right now so I have all the time in the world, if you're younger (which I assume) the plant isn't going extinct any time soon. :)

Also I think soil is cleaner than Hydroponics really... you spill your dirt who cares brush/broom/vacuum you spill gallons of juice everywhere oh crap...

haha yea i just emptied the water from the garden and i put new water in there im going to check the pH of the new water and if its to high or to low can i use these drops i got from petco for my freshwater fish tank? i assumed it would work for the plants aswell because people grow freshwater plants in there fishtanks

ya you should be fine, just take your time, always best to go one way without having to go back and forth.

Well said. If they're pissed enough to consider takin a bat to your babies you might wanna rethink growing. When they get to flowering things are gonna get stinky.

Hekinsieden: Dirt cleaner than hydroponics? I can't agree with you there unless a person is really sloppy. My Aerogardens are clean, complete and compact. They each fit in an area of about two square feet and on the occasion that I tripped and spilled a full reservoir I had to clean up less than a gallon. I've also had a lot less problems with critters and diseases, but you can't ignore it like you can dirt.
