My babies are dying I'm begging for help

Help I don't know what they need I lost two plants to this already thy are about a week old and I gave two teaspoons of grow big mixed with gallon of water a few days ago and today I gave it coconut water since I believed it was calcium defie net but I see no progress. I'm using frog soil please help me asap

But I only have it the grow big after I noticed it was turning brown and at that point all it was receiving was water. Is there any way to fix it or should I just start over? Thanks for your input bro. This is my dirt grow and I don't want to start off by killing them

Nutrient burn you NEVER feed seedlings. You don't feed them until they have lost their cotyledons and have established roots. Their real leaves will begin to lighten that's the sign to add in a VERY light feeding. That usually takes awhile even in something without nutrients. Stop feeding them early. I hope they survive.

AH YA...You never feed babies, that's what those lil round leaves are...cotyledons, food/energy for plant...do not feed for the first 3 to 4 weeks of that poor babies life, in this case death, and then only 1/4 strength of what's recommended...

I'm confused still. Forgive my ignorance but what would you suggest caused the leaves to turn brown when I was just watering it? Could the soil have so much nutrients that it burned it?

What soil did you use? Your soil could be to hot. I put my seedlings in Sunshine Mix Advanced #4 that's soilless so there are zero nutrients and I just give pHed tap water and that's enough for 2 to 3 weeks. You also said you gave them Grow Big that has an NPK of 644 and that's HUGE for a seedling.

So at the very least giving them that Grow Big could have done it but I don't know if your soil is contributed yet so it so it could be worse.

Well, the soil looks soaked, so I'm gona say you're over watering caused the brown leaves and also there's alot of bark in there, it may carry tannins (sp) that can cause acidity in the soil.

Yeah I gave it two teaspoons of it hoping that I had nitrogen defecency and I was wrong. Is there any fixing this or should I throw it out? My soil is fox farm ocean forest

Yep just like MG it's hot, don't do anything until soil is dry, then water lightly for first 2 weeks, then flush it and start with regular water till it drains out a little everytime you water her

Hey Rik I want to ask you something I've been trying lately. I am guilty of overfeeding on occasion. What I've started doing when I see I've intentionally uh oh'ed is fed them non phed tap water. This effectively for me seems to quickly correct things as I can flush them immediately and at the same time slam the door on the nutrient uptake. Then it depends on how bad the over feed was, I give only unPh'ed or Ph'ed water.

That's seemed to work well for me. Now I run hydro only. I'm just beginning to think about soil. I wonder if the OP gave them tap water if it might buffer them from the FFOF nutes for a seedling? hmmmmmm I'll have to ask cn too what he thinks on that. But so far it's been working for me.

Ocean Forest is too hot for germinating/seedlings.

Here is my two cents, try transplanting them into another soil, like light warrior or any seed starting mix really. Then water them in with just enough to get the soil moist.
If you can't do that then as a last resort maybe flush the soil... Idk if that will help at this point though.

I hope someone corrects me if I'm giving bad advice.

Dude, just let em be. Maybe start a few more and never throw it out unless it's hopeless, it's always a learning experience, it should be fine if you don't love it so much...I made the same mistake with 2 of my first ones and learned from it :clap:

Hell, even transplanting into straight vermiculite or perlite would be better at this point. Don't ever use FFOF for germinating seeds unless you cut it by at about 50% with something like castings and coir.

Or leave them be as Riknstein says, I'm just throwing out ideas, I'm sure he knows more about this than me. (not sarcasm)

I cannot find anything to complain about in this. (For those who know me, I just gave c2g high praise.) I mean ... if it works ... :mrgreen:

As for tap water and FFOF, which has organic (slow) nutes afaik, the tap water might slow their release by applying a brake to the microherd. I'm purely guessing though. cn
