My beans are on the way...what's my next best move

My beans are on the way. i ordered 2 feminized seeds of 7 different variets.

I have built a veg/clone and mother cabinet. I want to maintain mother plants to take the cuttings off of for future grows and keep the moms small since I will only be grabbing a few clones every few months from each strain.

When I first germinate the seeds, should I:

1. Grow that seed right into the mother plant and then take the cuttings to veg and flower.

OR

2. Put the plant from seed into flower after taking a few cuttings and then pick the healthiest cutting for the mother plant.

Any thoughts?

i wld put into flower, take cuts first, buy new seeds (just in case)unfeminized, and if your feminized seeds turn out ok veg the clones. i agree tho, femmed seeds suck. once you get a decent mother from normal seeds - happy days;

Why do you hate them? I researched the hell out of them and seems more like them than hate them. I wanted to avoid the waiting time to see if they were boys or girls.

Dude your fine. The only prob with fem seeds is the lack of finding a true keeper. Since you only have 2 seeds your only gonna have two phenos. Maybe only one. If it was me I'd germ the seed then put her under cfls for 24 hrs a day. Top her at the 4th node and lst her. Take some clones as soon as they root put them into flower see if you like what your growing.

A straight female is just the way to go. When you start mes-sin with sexes what do you end up with? A hermes - a little stress and they pop a boner.

A lot of people don't like them because if not feminized properly the plants tend to hermie in flower. I've only grown feminized seeds out side guerrilla style (until now mine are on the was too) but they turned out good for the climate I used to live in. None of them hermied. Its sad when companies don't put out good feminized seeds because it makes people hate them like you see here. I don't blame them either, if my beautiful ladies hermied, I'd be pissed too.

I'm going to sort of reiterate what puffntuff said. Veg them out long enough for you to take about 3 clones. So, let's say you took the top and the 2 bottom nodes that were growing. As soon as those clones are rooting and looking good toss the original plant into flower. I would then keep the best growing clone from the 3 as the mother, veg the other 2 clones till you're happy with the size and toss those into flower. By the time your plants have gone through the flowering stage you'll have 2 new replacements for it. Take the tops off those clones and the mother and you're off to the races.

Just a thought.

Where did you order your seeds from and how long have you been waiting for them? I ordered mine from Nirvana and it is now 10 days since shipping and I still haven't gotten them yet.

Not to hijack the thread but, I also ordered feminized seeds, but I am getting 5 AK48. I was only planning on germing 3 and keeping the best one, but in light of what some of you wrote, should I germ all 5? I have kids and a small closet grow so, I have to be somewhat cautious. I can't have a shitload of plants and clones hanging around. This thread: https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/8152-connection-between-24hr-lights-males.html talks about the do's and don'ts so you don't wind up with hermies or males and I plan on following those recommendations to the letter.

New growers should stay away from feminized seeds until they get everything down and dialed in. They tend to react poorly to stress of any kind. Then they go belly-up and hermie on you. The easiest way is to pick some stable genetics like a nice nothern light strain. Easy to grow. Short plants. Not too much odor and kick ass smoke. They are also very forgiving. Once you get everything just right THEN you can try some feminized seeds. I've been growing for about 5 years now. I won't purchase feminized seeds. Too expensive for such a high risk endeavor.

I ordered them yesterday from attitude and they were shipped this morning.

I used fem seeds about 6 years ago to grow northern blue and the plants grew perfect and never any problems with them growing nuts. I never got to finish that grow due to an a huge monkey wrench.

I like the idea of growing out the seeds and putting that plant into flower after taking 3 clones and picking the best clone for the future mother. Seeds have been ordered so theres no turning back now.

I plan on germinating in paper towel and then place them in the rapid rooter plugs, unless I should germinate them in the plugs?

One more question, I plan on putting the clones in the rapid rooter plugs as well. If I do, can I put the plug right into the soil for the mom or cut the plug off of it?

I have fem seeds man. Its just they aren't First generation seed so I'm not happy with them,I like to stick the plug into the soil but not to low and not to high to low could cause decay of the stem and to high could cause stem strength to decrees... Where are you in U.S.A?

Thanks Devk. I plan on throwing teh plug right in but good points about keeping the top of the plug even with the top of the medium. I'm in new England, You?

I would make sure you have rooted clones BEFORE you put it into flower. I would LST it and during that process gather and root clones (since LST provides a lot of shoots) once you have the clones rooted AND growing in your final media (ie if soil make sure they survive the transplant and start growing). Cloning is not guaranteed success unless you have done it a few times. If you do screw up you can always throw back into revege after harvest and take cuttings that way but its more risky as some plants dont survive a revege very well.
