My Closet Setup...Will it work?

I am starting a grow room in my closet. I plan on starting the plants out on my shelf which is 2' x 2'. It is kind of small, so I am only going to try to grow about two plants.

For my light source I was thinking about getting a 150 watt HPS.
My walls in the apartment are already white (yay!)
I am going to have at least one big oscillating fan.

This is where I run into problems. I have no way of doing a ventilation system. When I am here, I will be able to have the door open some. I guess I am wondering if it will be too hot to go with HPS. I could go with CPL, but I am not sure if this will be enough lumens in the small space, and everyone here seems to recommend HPS.

I have some organic soil and perlite, but I am unsure about what nutes to use. In a video a watched from here, they actually had different nutes mixed in with the water for the different grow cycles. Can anyone recommend some good nutes or if I need them for a good yield? I am a newbie, so I am trying to get my shit right from the start. Thanks.

Why not get a new door for the closet that you can tear into.... get a 4" hole saw, and put a hole in the top and bottom of the door. Get an in-line fan and some ducting and you're set.

What type of soil do you have? Depending if it's loaded with nutes, or has very few nutes will help determine what you may need to feed your babies.

Essentials nutes of growing though; some form of Blood Meal, some form of Bone meal, some form of Nitrogen(fish emulsion works good), and epsom salts for magnesium deficiences. Those are extremely handy to have for certain circumstances.

Yeah, I could do that but I would rather avoid it for two reasons. One I want to be more descreat about it, because people may be in my room where the closet is. And the second is I am not planning on growing that much, so I was hoping to get away with having the door open for part of the day/night, and having a nice fan going.

There is a ledge in my closet that is 2x2 which is where I wanted to grow them. It is about 4 feet tall, so height shouldn't be a problem.. How tall do white widows get? I was just wondering with a 150 watt HPS if it will heat up a ton in the closet without a vent. system.

As for my soil, I don't think it has any nutes in it already, but I could be wrong. Does anyone recommend a brand of soil I could get that has some good nutes and I can just use distilled water for growing? Thanks.

So are those fans sucking the air out of the closet then?

If someone has a 250 watt HPS and tried it without a vent. please let me know how hot it got so I can reference that when trying a 150 watt. I might just have to go with CFL in the end, but I really dont want to : (

yes the fans are sucking out the air and at the bottom those holes are passive intakes.

the 250 in my closet with the door closed would get to about 32c even higher during hot days.

besides that you need ventilation, they thrives with fresh air going through them.

Thanks for the insight man, I will have to think about it. One good thing about it is it would heat my room in the winter
