My First Baby

after about a month of trial and error i managed to grow one plant out of about 20 seeds(im really bad at getting them to break ground) and another very small baby that is growing super slow.

so here is my official journal. last one i swear until my next grow. im going to post all the pics i have taken thus far of my successful plant, (the last pic is of my little baby that is growing slowly but it should pick up soon.)comments welcome.

I'm still on my first grow, so if some expert comes along and contradicts me, listen to them. But....

I had the exact same kind of plant food (Shultz). I couldn't find a balance between using too little (and not getting much growth) and burning the crap out of my leaves. I went to a somewhat local hydroponics supply store and was asked not to blaspheme as soon as I mentioned the name Shultz.

Now I use Botanicare Pure Blend Pro (they have lots of different kinds, for vegetative/flowering and soil/hydro) and my plants have exploded in growth. They're growing in a 2' x 2' x 4' box I built (home made ebb/flow system), and they're almost too large for the box.

thanks for the advice but unfortunetly the nearest place like that around here is 3.5 hours away. there is a place called southside smoke shop opening soon and that sounds promising :fire:

not much of an update but an update just the same. topped for the second time and LST'D the shit out of it. think i have a string on 90 percent of my little tree's branches right now (just incase i want to scrog). hows she look for being 3-4 weeks old? im thinking small but iv never grown before.

ok guys its update time for those of you who are watching from the shadows. i now have three babies at various ages, my newest (4 days) by middle child (9 days) and my oldest(4-5 weeks i think) i have to flower my eldest soon or it will out grow my closet but i want to flower them all at the same time(not really a want more of a need seeing as i only have the one closet to work with). what do you guys think? i also noticed that my oldest actually has several 7 finger leaves so thats a good thing right? on a bad note though wile lst'ing (last update) i accidently split the main stem (i had topped previously so my main stem looks like a "Y") so to save it from any more damage i have stopped lst'ing and added more soil to her(hopefully) pot so as to bury the split, also added a small bit of rooting hormone to the crack aswell. i have started my oldest on my shultz plant food (says use 7 drops per litre so im using 5 drops for 2 litres, seems to be the perfect amount. there is an aweful lot of small flies (almost fruit fly like) anyideasongetting ridof them (seem to be eating my leaves a bit but not bad enough to really worry too much about). thanks for the answers and comments.

Just keep doing what you are doing and you will get there the big plant looks fine.The smaller plant may just be not has hard has the other one.I take it that you have not sex the plant yet because of it's size.This may be a bit of a downer for you if it turns out to be a male.If the plant turns out to be a male then order some femanised seeds it is a sure fire way of knowing tht your plant will be a girl.Go for a seed comp like greenhouse i say this because there germanation to seed ratio is always good.Use the papper towel method spray a papper towl with water and a drop of surethrive in it make sure that your papper is wet then place it in a bag and put somewhere warm have a look after about 4 days by this time some should have germanated but if some have not then replace in the same place and leave a few more days.When you first start out germanating seeds you tend to rush then along you must be patient and things will start to happen for you........................................................tyke.................................................................................................

thanks for the comments man and i most likely will order fem seeds when i do a non closet grow(eventually will setup a larger scale grow with hps) maybe a hydro grow. im hoping atleast one of my 3 are female, and i also have another seed germed and planted just in case one are. man i wish there was a local hydro shop around here. thanks for stopping by,hope to hear from you again sometime :weed:

ok UPDATE!

just transplanted my largest into a bigger home ,started her*hoping* on 3/4 dose nutes, two new plants are going fine now , im hoping ill have atleast one girl(preferably my big plant. sorry if this update is short but im fuckin wrecked bongsmilie

Maybe that's your problem.
Smoking and growing can lead to dead or sick plants.

I know quite a few growers, and most of them can't grow for shit.
It's mostly due to the fact that they're high all the time.

Having a fantastic garden that constantly produces dank bud harvest after hatvest needs self discipline, ambition, and motivation.
I smoke too. But not all the time.
I know if I'm high all the time, shit doesn't get done, or it get's done in a half ass way.

well i dont know,i have a space 6 ft tall by 4 ft wide and 2 ft deep so i might veg for another month(or until i see pre-flowers) would flowering till i see the sex then reverting back to veg bad?

It's not good for the plant.
That's a good way to stress your plant out.

If your curious about the sex, just take a cutting.
Root the cutting, then throw it into bloom.
You'll know what sex it is in just a couple of weeks,
and you won't disrupt the alleged mom or dad.

Yea dont go bac n forth with the light schedules, like bong said it can cause stress, and possibly hermies. They will just about triple in size when you flower, what will you be working with to flower?

well right now im using 168 watts of 2700k cfl and ill most likely add at least 80 more to finish up the job(and yes iv been using 2700k bulbs for veg. {highest watt i could find are 42 and its 2700k) i know your not supposed to use 2700 instead of 6500k for veg but it works just fine as you can see.(probably would grow a little quicker though) and unfortunetly its not worth it to take a cutting atm because by the time it shows sex it will be time to flower anyways

lol ok first off its not a problem with germinating, iv done 3 methods (paper towel method, soaked some in a shot glass till they germed, and plain old planted in the dirt lol) the problem lies after the germination, i wasnt overly careful picking soil and whatnot the first soil i got was just that,no perlite , not peat moss just soil, that killed most of them because there is no room for roots and little to no air,that and for along time my temps were running at about 85-95.
now i have better soil bigger grow space and a fan. my temps are still warm but not as bad. range from 74-79 now. thanks for stopping by, hope i answered your question
