Your buckets arent light proof. You could wrap them with 3 layers of reflectix from home depot for insulation and light proofing... or just panda film or whatever.

The lids have reflective tape which works well. However, you are right I could use 100% light proof (the sides)... Thanks for the idea!

Everyone:

Just as it is without light proofing the sides, comparing the dark colored Rubbermaid container to the 5 gallon bucket with reflective tape, I find it is doing SO much better. Less of my water is disappearing :D I also noticed the temperature dropped a lot... so its not as warm inside the bucket.

Update: This morning I awoke to a problem. One of my outputs on my DIG assembly stopped working. It appears to have clogged so I moved it to another output. Other than that this system is working wonders!

Keep the ideas coming! I will post any new idea's and progress I get here.
