Yeah with those flouro tubes they work best when the plants are realllll close. Keep up the nice work dude

I would put them under the 400 watter to veg, that light is going to start being too weak support vigorous growth

Yep I just need them to root properly then I will transfer to the small 11 L DWC Reservoir, Take clones - get them started the same way then transfer them to the big cabinet with the 400 watter and the little fluoro should be good for keeping the bonsai mother which I will keep in a hydro-culture pot. (weak light weak nutes).

....Well thats the plan anyway

methinks they may have roots but I dont think they are ready for DWC just yet I think I will wait till theyre first set of true-leaves develops properly?

.....any comments on this?

Sweet tommo!

I'll do that now surely it cant hurt! I will keep top feeding aswell just to be on the safe side!

Well I'd better get to it!

I decided to transplant the seedlings into the small reservoir this afternoon.

To 11 Litres of tap-water I added:

12 ml of GH Flora - Micro

24ml of GH Flora - Bloom

1 ml of Superthrive

and 5-6 Drops of pH-Down to bring it down to around 5.5

I used my truncheon to check the CF it was around 12-13 CF

(I was aiming for a CF of 9 to start but I think I may have got carried away with the Superthrive!! .....either that or my tap-water has added to the ppm reading  )

But I'm sure they will be able to handle it

This one had a 15mm tap-root coming through the bottom of the net-pot:

This one didnt have a tap-root coming through yet but I'm sure it wont be long:

I was going to slide out the top shelf and continue using the small cabinet but I just realised I will need to keep it in for starting my clones!

..So I put everything in the big cabinet under the HPS ...The fluoro is perhaps a little bit too weak to get any serious growth anyway! :eyesmoke:

I filled the three spare net-pots with hydroton aswell to try and stop the light from getting in the reservoir.

Is my light in the right place? I dont want to put it too close! .....They are still babies!

I just checked my seedlings they look like they have grown quite alot since yesterday when I put them in the big cabinet.

No nute burn and the light doesnt seem too powerful for them.

Sorry the photos are a bit shit because of the HPS.

The tap-root on this one had grown about another 20mm!!

Still no protruding roots on this one yet.

Ok so much for no nute burn!!

I just realised the tips on the first set of leaves are browning and dying! Surely its not time for them to die just yet???

Also the seedling with the protruding root is drooping I think I may have over watered it (Ill have to stop top-feeding this one cos it obviously doesnt need it!)

...Or is it normal for a plant to be a bit droopy while it acclimatises to DWC, this seedling has about 25-30mm of root in the nutrient.

100.jpg

However it is only the new set of leaves which are drooping the first set are still horizontal but have a small amount of browning on the tips

This one has a small amount of browning on the tips and a little bit along one edge of the first leaves. (These first leaves were a little bit yellow even before I put them into DWC)

101.jpg

As for the brown tips I've done a search and this is what I came up with:

1. The concentration of the new nutrients may be a bit too high at 12-13CF. (Next time I wont add so much Superthrive!!)

But if this is the case it shouldnt get any worse because I will be topping up with straight pH corrected tap-water which will bring the CF down over time?
Is this right? Or should I water it down a bit?

2. Leaving the seedlings in the humidity crib for so long might have caused the leaves to stay wet for long periods?

3. All the formula I have been squirting through the hydroton has left a build up of salts on them which has reached toxic levels?

4. Or I just had them way too close to the fluoro in the propagation area and the browning is from light burn.

5. The temps frequently are around 30 C and the browning is from heat stress.

....Or I am stressing about nothing and they will sort themselves out?

Should I add some H2O2 as a precaution in case of disease?

Any ideas ......Anyone?

I thought Id better check the seedlings this morning to see if the nute burn symptoms had got any worse, the seedling in the middle is the only one that cant handle the concentration, over-night the tips have got worse and are completely dead now.

102.jpg

So I checked the concentration and it had crept up to 14 CF or a little bit higher, I took out 2 L of nutrient and replaced it with pH corrected tap-water which brang it back down to around 11 -12 CF (This should be ok right?). The pH had risen to around 6 or just over so I adjusted that back down to around 5-5.5 again. I added 2 ml of H2O2 aswell just to keep things healthy (Hope it doesnt do more harm than good!).

I also decided to get the ScrOG screen out of the way too so I disassembled it I wont be needing it for a while yet!!

I just thought I'd better water down the nutrient a little bit more ...better safe than sorry!

CF: 9

(Not sure how accurate that is using tap-water, tap-water here has a reading of 2 CF - But that may just be cos that is the lowest reading I can get off my truncheon!)

pH: 5.5
