My First Grow - 105w CFL Need Help!

Hey guys I just finished my pc grow box on the weekend and just planted seeds straight into the soil without germination.

I was wondering should I leave my light on for 24hours or 18/6 they haven't even sprouted yet or anything literally planted an hour ago. Also when I turn my lights off do I want to leave my intake and exhaust running still? And how wet should I keep my soil I read everywhere to water once it dries out but it's still a seed?

Another question is my light too big lol it's 105w 6400k cfl.

Thanks for the help

hell no thats not to big the bigger the better but the 6400 k is perfect for veg you want 2700k for flower and i suggest you leave the lights on 24/7 now and threwout veg i always do and all 4 of my seeds sprouted n were all female .Ive grown 3 plants under 270 watts of cfl which isnt much wattage but it gets the job done of course i low stress train to make up for my lack of wattage you should to .watering is pretty easy as long as your not a complete dumbazz its pretty easy not to over water or under water you dont gotta be perfect just water when you think they need water when the top inch or two is dry its time to water.you should of germinated the seeds in wet paper towels first.keep the soil a little moist for the seedling be careful not to overwater you could drown it just keep it a little moist

Lights are not necessary until after they break through the soil. Germinating in soil can take a few days.

You shouldn't have to run your exhaust after lights out, maybe for a few minutes till the light cools down. They don't breathe co2 at night so there's no need to refresh the air (unless you want to)

Plants do respire at night. It does not require light to take place. This is a process of releasing energy, kind of the opposite to photosynthesising. Photosynthesis is the preparation of the dinner, respiration is the dining process and the belching and flatulence that follows. When a plant respires, it releases carbon dioxide ( at a lower rate than it takes in ), oxygen, heat, water. It occurs on a cellular level with all living things.

It's the opposite of what happens during the day, your plants actually exhaust co2 at night.

Thanks guys I planted them in the soil without germinating first so if they don't sprout I'm gonna germinate some and see how that goes.

The water seems to be getting dry pretty quick so I moved the light further away hoping that will help.

What is the fastest anyone has seen a sprout from planting a seed and what's the longest I should wait before I take them out?

Thanks again

ok man, sounds like your motivated
the seeds will sprout within about 7 days, could take up to a few weeks but i never had it take that long.
your 105w cfl is perfect, especially for a pc dude
i did 24/0 my first grow, now i do 18/6 and see no diffrence except sometimes theres growth when the lights come back on. your plants are alive, they eat drink and breath air so how would you feel about staying up 24/0? thats the way i look at it man. and like Xcon said, they release co2 in there dark periods so the exhaust fan can be turned off.

as far as water goes man everyone does it diffrent. I make sure there is good drainage on my cups by watering the soil untill there is good run off. then i plant the seed about 1/4" into the soil...heres where everyone is diffrent....
some people put bags over there cups to make a humidity dome (this will help a little during germination i guess. once the seed pops under the dirt it might help bring it out sooner. but def helps when its a seedling becaue it makes the roots look for water faster. therefore it grows faster), some people dont. I personally dont...people will also just leave the cups alone till it sprouts. Me, I mist the top of the soil twice a day if it dries out quick.

in my signature if you go to my current grow i currently use cfls to. right now i have 7 cups. been in there about 60 hours i guess and 2 sprouted after 48. later today i will check for more..let me know if you need help man
