My first grow 250w HID

So, this is my first grow. I have invested a lot of my time into researching, reading all the FAQs I can, browsing the boards, watching the videos and doing just about anything I can to gain knowledge on this subject. Despite my efforts I am still unconfident and or unclear on a few things. All the FAQs are great, but none of em get specific enough for me to really understand what I have to do with my particular setup to get the best possible results. I recently posted about some concerns with ventilation, I think I have this figured out now thanks to some of the helpful members of this board. So I am back with a few more questions with hopes that I can maybe get some simple straightforward answers. I have not yet set up my grow room, I just finished painting it today. It is a fairly decent size walk in closet, 9ft long, 7ft high, and 3ft wide. I have sectioned off one side of the closet for my grow. The area I sectioned off is only 5 ft high because I am going to be hanging my lamp from the bottom of a shelf and my ventilation system is going to be on top of the shelf. There is about an inch high gap under the door which I am hoping will be sufficient for airflow, if it is not I can probably create some means of adequate intake. I am waiting on a 250w HPS fixture with an integral ballast. The fixture was cheap from HTG supply and I am on a tight budget, its all I could squeeze for now. I also ordered a 250w MH conversion bulb. I am planning on vegging under the MH as a friend of mine did this and got great results. I am hoping the MH conversion bulb I ordered fits my reflector but that is another story. For ventilation I am getting a 4in can fan with a carbon filter. I am going to vent out my ceiling into the crawl space. This is where my noob questions begin. After reading all the FAQs and taking in everyone's "only way to grow" opinions.. I still need a little clarification on a couple things. First off, the basics. I was hoping on getting a couple clones or maybe some feminized seeds but so far that is a no go so I may have to use bagseed. The bagseeds I have came from some mid-grade mexican bud, decent green bud but certainly not anything I would really enjoy smoking in the condition it was in. They are healthy seeds and I'm sure they can produce some nice flowers. I was really intending on growing indicas to keep em short, and I was always under the impression that the mexican buds were sativas, I really don't know. I know how to germinate the seeds and I will start doing that as soon as I complete my room. Editted: This was way too complex and I'm slowly getting answers to some of my questions. My main question is how many plants can I successfully veg under a 250w MH? I wanna veg enough that I will get (hopefully) 2 females.. which means I better veg like 5 plants. but will this work?

You may want to build a small mother/clone box, with a few cheap CFLs for lighting. That way, provided you get at least one female, you can clone it, turn the clone into a bonsai mother plant, and not have to worry about sourcing femmed seeds or clones in the near future.

Your setup sounds good, and it sounds like you've got the basics covered well. Good luck. :weed:

Thats a great idea, and I'd love to pursue it bu this grow has me pretty much broke for the time being. I cannot afford to even invest in a small veg box. Would it be possible for me to raise seedlings right off the bat with a MH bulb? How high should I keep the light above the seedlings?

Yeah its possible to raise your seeds with just the mh.start i at 1 foot then put your hand at the top of your plants if its too hot raise it if not lower it.If its good for your hand its good for your plant.
