My First Grow! I Have A Few Questions.

Thanks! I'm posting new pics tomorrow. Things have come a long way since the last ones. I'm mixing in a 5 gallon carboy. The plants are using more water now. I used to go 3 days between watering but in an attempt to not over water I used about 6 cups of water per plant. This only lasts 2 days maybe the morning of the 3rd day. I'm actually going to get a huge plastic drum and an RO filter. I'm using the wimpy house RO that has a one gallon reservoir. I have to take a trip to out of the country so I'll mix up a bunch of one gallon jugs for the wife to use but aside from that I find it easier to just use a carboy.

Are you still making ph balanced water in one gallon jug? Nice grow by the way!

I agree 100%. I was trying for that so I topped the really stretched ones as best as I possibly could. I did raise the lights though and rearranged the plants so they fit better. There are 3 White Widow and 3 Super Silver Haze in there. It seems the WW come in different shapes and sizes.:cuss:But, with the new setup I'm getting a bit of a more even canopy and more light while avoiding more stretch. I certainly think I've pick the mother though. I have cloned all of these 4 times and they are all rooted now. So I have put aside to 4 that I really like the best in the window and under a light. They'll provide much love...

Thanks for the feedback, always appreciated and welcome!
I would bring raise the light up a couple inches. In the second picture it looks like the girls on the outside are starving for some lumens.

IMO an even canopy right before flower is the best canopy. This way you can keep your light as close as possible to ALL of your plants, not just the tallest, more favored plants.

I would recommend a aeration stone and small pump for your 5 gallon, helps keep water free of algae and introduces oxygen which will in turn get fed to your plants. All can be purchased for around 15 Dollars.

Thanks for the props! It certainly is my first time. I just found another mistake I was making too. It seems these girls have developed quite a root ball and were drinking much more than I thought. I noticed some curl on the leaves about 2 days after watering. I thought I had a deficiency but it turned out that the pots were really lite. So, I added water with the nromal roots. We'll see what we have when the lights come on.

Hi everyone!

Well after three weeks of flower I have an update. I ran into an underwatering issue with one of them but I figured that one out and things are back on track. Still learning. :wall:

Anyway, here are some new pics! Enjoy!

oh yea and the airation stone great idea if your gonna keep water sitting around also keep it covered to
I actually mix it up and put it in one gallon jugs with a cap. I mix it up really well just before I water. It makes it easy too. Each plant takes about 1/2 gallon so it's easy to measure. I'm getting really stoked about these girls. 8 or so more weeks and we'll have BUDS!!!!

Definatley start a journal here. I'd love to see how things go. It's great to learn and seeing something from the start is always nice.

Here are the nutes I'm using right now:

Per gallon

X Nutrients:

20ml Bloom
15ml Micro

8ml Bud Candy

5ml CaMg+

This gets me to ~1300 PPM. These nutes have buffers that takes my RO water to 5.5. If I was hydro, this would be great but I'm in soil. So my PH up bottle is getting used up for sure. It's takes a bit to get to 6.5.

Anyone have any suggestions about this?

Thanks!

How much do you use?
It should only take a capful to bring it from 5.5 to 6.5 in a 3-5 gallon bucket.

I've heard of people using baking soda to bring the PH back up but from what I hear it's not as "stable" as the premium ph stabilizers on the market.
