My first grow. Need feedback.

Hello to everyone reading this post. This is actually my first post on this forum.

I am about to start my first grow. I haven't spent any money just yet. I am looking for advice on my current situation:

I have a deal I can buy from someone and I'm looking for feedback on maybe the overall cost, but more specifically the lights.

The setup: 4x4x7 Gorilla Grow tent, a CFM fan, a filtration system, http://www.betterledgrowlight.com/article/186.html x 2, a Co2 tank, a 2x2x2 mother grow box with a 100w light. total cost $1100

I will be growing in a garage. I live in CO it's cold right now. I like the lights being LED just for the fact of cooler temps during the summer time.

The lights were also described to me as being able to produce hash tips. I won't be attempting to go for hash tips until later, I did like the sound of what it does for the plant.

My goals for growing, are education and learning to breed to get better genetics. I know there isn't a lot of info on my setup. I mainly just need to talk about the lights and the initial cost.

Can I get a better setup for the same cost?
Are the lights good? They aren't 600w which seems to be most peoples favorite, especially considering LED's.
I know the penetration for the plants is good, it would be two lights.

I look forward to anyone/everyone's responses.

Gorilla grow tents are expensive. You can save half that money on another tent. And Gorillas have light leaks like all the rest of them. You don't need co2 right off the bat. Get a little experience first. Are you doing hydro or soil? I would recommend soil. What size is your flower area? Your big investment is your light, can is a factor with heat(ing).

This was a packaged deal. Not buying any of this retail. Looking for someones opinion on if I could find a better overall setup?

Still looking for opinions on the lights.

1100$ seems expensive

You can buy two 1K mh/hid a fan filter and a tent for that price probably, or course not name brand. But it's what I use and they work great. Iponiczone

Of course your gonna have mad heat issues come summer. Do u have a portal ac u can put in the garage?
I would section an area off and do it that way

OK Chris, I'll take a stab at this. It seems like you primary question is the lights. I have a LED going right now that I bought used from a friend who gave up after one failed attempt. Is it the greatest thing ever, not really. I also have a T5HO going and the plants are doing about the same. The LED is good don't get me wrong just don't expect miracles. This is my 1st attempt with the LED so there is limited experience here but, this grow is flushing now. You have a lot of options at 1,100, look around. I don't know what those garage temps are going to be in the summer and I suspect that you don't either. You need to have a rock solid plan to keep those temps down. Start small, I started with basil to get see what happened with the heat and humidity and get a plan together to address it. I hope that this helped and good luck with whatever you land on.

why not go 4x4x8 and build your room? 12 2"x4" nails and a saw is all you need…. than you can either wrap in panda film or enclose it with sheetrock. Cold garage in CO what are you plans to keep the room warm during lights out?

Regardless of what you use make sure to build a platform so that your tents / plants are not sitting on the garage floor.

If you are legal why bother with a tent? Forget CO2 at your level of experience.
