My First Grow: Northern Lights

I wouldn't cut them just yet. Eventually when you get enough growth you'll want to trim away the unhealthy/dead ones. Keep doing what you're doing and supplement a little more juice so they're not taking nutrients from the lower leaves and you'll be well on your way!

What's up Idontlikesociety? I just stumbled upon your journal and wanted to give some creds man. It's looking good and it's cool to watch the learning process. I'm about 4 weeks ahead of you on my first as well and have experienced the SAME EXACT problems with my plants. You're doing a great job though man. I'm subbed and can't wait to see the end results! Keep up the good work!

Also, What kinds of experiments do you plan on doing to them once in flowering, if any? I.E. do you plan on scrogging or any other growing methods? Just curious.

S**t. Wrote a long message to you scrottiemcboogerballs, and it all vanished.
I'll write soon, now I lost my motivation :p

Anyway, some new pictures! Did add some new LST also.

On this grow I'm going for LST and topping, but I'm working on a new grow box as we speak where I will go ScrOG!
I will post some images when it's done. Shouldn be ready within a few weeks, max a month I think.

And what do you grow? No journal?
Feel free to add some pictures of your grow in this thread :)

For the plant, it is growing very bushy but pretty much nothing at the height. The stem is growing thick and looks very healty
and so does the leafs (maybe a little low humidity). I'm not really worried 'cause I'm sure she'll start growing taller soon enough.
From now on I will let her rest and gain strenght, and just continue bending her down with LST :)

Got my BioBizz Fish Mix (NPK 6 - 2 - 4) today which I mix with water at 1-2 ml/liter and spray the plant once a day.
I've ready good things about it and thought I'd give it a try. The bottle was very cheap too, like 7-8$ for 0.5 liter.

So, to sum up about the nutrients I'm using -

/ I'm using four BioBizz products; Bio Grow, Bio Blom, Root Juice and Fish Mix.
/ I'm following oldtimer1's BioBizz schedule which can founded on the bottom of this page.
/ I've used/been using Root Juice, Fish Mix and Bio Grow in veg and will only use Bio Grow and Bio Blom in bloom.

Also, I transplanted into a AirPot with 10 liters of BioBizz All-Mix soil.

Thanks for looking!

wow man. Nice job on those. They look pretty happy to my noob eyes. I have a shitty old phone camera and have no idea how to upload pics onto my mac, otherwise I would. I'll try to invest in one soon though and get one of these started myself. I'm growing two dinafem seeds from the tude'. They both vegged for 35 days and have been in flower for about 4 weeks. Critical+ is a sick monster plant with really beefy nugs. I scrogged this one from a video I saw on youtube and really just kind've broke it a little and duct taped it. 1 week later the cola's on the branches that I broke are looking definitely bigger than the others. It has also been topped twice. So four main colas. This plant can take the abuse man. The other is a Dinafem diesel. I havn't scrogged, but have heavily lsted both of them and it helped on this one most. I topped once and the two main tops are about the size of a cellphone. My other is a barneys bluecheese and I haven't done anything to it.

I would suggest to go ahead and watch some scrogging videos on youtube and do some reading, but after trying it and scaring the shit out of myself, I noticed it stressed a bit more sugar on those nugs and is definitely beefing up the cola's.

Thanks for the in depth response. I'm still pretty new here and don't know how the +rep thing works but if somebody will explain it, I'll be happy to give one.
Stay stoney,

I am confused.
Am I seeing some growth in the first two pictures (a new top?) where I did make the cut?
Or is it just some "healing" growth?

Hard to tell from the pics, but if you see the new tops poppin up, its fine. You cant really fuck it up, if you do, it will just grow out one sprout.

give it like a week and you'll notice a difference. my one plant that wasn't topped has much larger tops, but my topped plant has like 3x as many tops. It'll take a lil bit for the growth to start exploding, but it will happen.

Yeah, I now see what you are talking about. Over the past night she has grown, and to me it really looks like there's a top coming up now!
So, let's say that I'm correct for once and it will be a top. In that case I'll have 3 tops, yeah? The two branches turned into 2 new tops (the Y-stem).

And if there's more than 2 new tops (the Y-stem) then it's FIM no matter if it's 3 or 6 new tops?

Thanks for all the inputs and following, it's really appreciated and keeps me motivated!

From what i've heard topping goes from 1 to 2 tops and fim'img goes from 1 to 4+. It's more about the cut though. This was my first attempt at either so it's hard to say.
Here's the most recent pics Fim vs No topping (lst has been used for both)

The non fim'ed one has 3 pretty large tops while the fim'ed one is a fucking bush. there are 3+ visible tops and many more beneath the other leaves. It's hard to get them visible... so much growth down there.

nice dude, yeah give it at least like 3 days for the tops to be showing all the way. Looks great man. Ps, your plants leaves are telling you the temperature is to warm for her. When they fold in half (like a hard shell taco) they are cooling off. I have run into it a bunch of times, whats your temp like at the canopy?

looking at your picks thats not an extra top. you just left a little bit of the new leaves behind when you topped it and the little bit of the leaf is still growing. looks as though you got the main tip though so should be fine
