My First Grow - White Label White Widow

Well I figured I'm down to the soil as the issue... to much nutes in it for a seedling. How the one plant survived... I dont know. So I went out last night and got some Jiffy Mix. I used my water sprayer to "blow" away the soil from the seeds that still had good tap roots, one had even last half the seed shell. I transplanted 3 seeds to this jfify mix and overnight one already broke the soil. Hopefully the others wont be far behind. I also have 2 more germing in papertowl that soaked in water for about 24 hours. Those should go to the jiffy mix tonight or in the morning.

The seedling seems to be picking up the pace a little. For a while I just had the initial set of leaves, then a set of actual leaves. Now I can see the beginning of the next set.

So far the jiffy mix is working out well. Two popped out... one is doing well and the other I'm worried about. When I spayed some of the soil away from the leaf that popped through to let it breathe some more, the whole thing moved and popped out of the hole. So basically I have the two initial leaves, no root system yet. I replanted it in the jiffy mix with the bottom down. (Smart guy, aint I?) And am hoping the root system will develope. I discovered this yesterday and its still doing well. The first set of real leaves are starting to come in, I just need a stem and roots to go with it all. I still have 2 more white wido gemed seeds in the jiffy mix to sprout yet. This is the 2nd day in there. for those seeds. I just moved one of the germ'd free seeds over to the jiffy mix a few minutes ago. Its a Thai Haze X Skunk. Curious to see how that strain turns out. I will post some pics a little later tonight.

The one sprout that survived my initial attempt is doing very well now. It had stopped growing for a couple days but just yesterday to today there is a big difference, not to mention a noticable difference from this morning to after work.

I have to say I'm officially really disappointed with these white widow seeds from white label. 12 seeds germed. 2 sprouts. Thinking I was an idiot and messing it up - I germ'd two of the free seeds that came with my order from dope-seeds.com - and I'm 2 for 2 with those - doing the exact same thing I did with the others.

So my grow is going to be 2 white widow and 2 thai haze x skunk

All is coming along well though the thai haze x skunk seems a hair stretched. I'm hoping its just because they are satvia dominant and I'm a newbie so I'm over worrying. Just seems weird to me that under the same conditions, distance from the light - etc.... the two satvia doms are pretty darn tall and the two WW's are shorter. I think when I transplant i'm going to bury part of the stem - dont know for sure yet though.. this could be completely normal.

I'll get new pics up soon. Lots track of what I did with my camera. Its around here somewhere!

Finally found my camera hiding under the fold down back seat of my truck. (No comments from the peanut gallery!!!!! :P)

Here are some updated pcs. I was bored so I decided to transplant to actual pots today. Plants are visibly in a little shock because of it.. but are better now then they were a couple hours ago.

I have been talking to the guys from dopeseed.com about my poor sucess rate on the white widow seeds. I'll report back on the final outcome. Lets just say for now my initial reaction is that the guys are dope-seeds.com rock and the guys at white label can blow a goat. However I decied to give the guys a white label a fair chance and contacted them myself regarding the poor germintion rates. I though maybe I was stupid but when I can get a 100% germ rate with these other seeds and horrible with the the WW... just seems odd.

The fourth pic from the left - seems to be something at the tip of the leaf. I think its just from stress of the transplant because it seems to be doing better today. When I went to transplant that one all of the soil fell outof the roots. Within 45 seconds I had it back in soil and being watered in though.

thanks, I appreciate it. I did however severly damage one of my plants by moving it to what is going to be my grow room to try some different lighting on my plants. They just didnt seem to be growing the way they should. I have 2 125w eqiv CFL's (Cool) in there as well as two 150 w agrosun bulbs that a friend recomended. He used them on his grow with good results. They are supposed to have a good spectrum to them. Well those are the lights that killed one white widow and severly damaged the other. The first 12 hours went fine but the leaves were curling up on the plants so I moved the lights closer. The Thai Haze x Skunk were fine, the white widow hated it. I have tan spots here the leaves are dried out all over the leaves. The newest leaves are still green though and there is a new shoot starting as well. I hope it makes it. Though I have now tried to germ another 3 white widow seeds. We will see how that turns out! lol

Monday my I get my AC unit and hook that up in my room. I wont have the cash for the light for a couple weeks. But I think I can get my hands on a 250 MH aquarium light pretty cheap. Ballast, reflector, and bulb. Though it isn't the best... it'll be better then the CFL's until I can get my 600 MH and HPS in a couple weeks.

I dont think im going to buy White Label seeds anymore, or femenised seeds either for that matter...I dont know if its the company or the fem. seeds, but its been 3 days and only 2 out of 4 have popped. I usually have all of them popped and planted in 3 days...i really dont think the other 2 will pop, but i have hope...ill keep you updated.

Good to know i'm not the only one having problems. I must be getting finally into the good seeds of the pack lol.... I've got 1 popped... 1 starting to... and the other one hasn't at all since I put them in jiffy mix last night. So we shall see how it goes.

My two Thai Haze x Skunk are doing awesome. The last white widow I think is going to give up the ghost in the next 48 hours or so. :wall: Time will tell!!

I have to say.... this has been more fun then I care to admit to. Today I brought the AC unit home for the room. Time to get plans going for hooking it up. I'll be venting the exhaust into the next interior closet... that window can be opened to the back hall where there are even more windows and a door to disapate the heat. So no crazy heat signatures for me!!! Next order is the better lighting system... then the carbon filter. Just got to work on finding some smoke to tide me over till my crop is done!

One popped within 12 hours of hitting the cup... the other at 24 hours. The one is a very strong plant but the other is kind of lagging. The third "ppped" but is another rootless/stemless sprout. I had one of these in my first round of germing. I'll get pics up when I get home from work. The two Thai Haze x Skunk are doing god. Though the leaves drooped a little from the watering yesterday. Been watering those every other day. Also have 2 more germing in paper towel. I'm gonna get to 5 plants dang it!!!!

Wow.. lts of growth while I was at work today!!! 2nd sprout that was lagging behind the 1st one really caught up today. This morning it wasn't even out of the seed and now its out though the shell is still stuck to the cotyldon (sp?). The Thai Haze are coming along well... awesome growth since this morning. I think stating monday or tuesday I'm going to start feeding them low doses of fertilizer. (Just the two thai haze x skunk)
