My First Harvest!!

Well, I decided to harvest my female tonight. Within the last few days, the buds have become so heavy they tip and sway regularly...it seems like I tie them up a certain way, then they manage to lean and fall in a different direction. So after many trials of tying the bitch up, I decided it was time to chop her down. I would have liked to keep her for another week or so, but overall I'm happy with my first grow.

I started this grow for a relatively low price. I just wanted to experiment and see what I could do....it really turned in to quite a fun hobby that I learned a lot about (much thanks to you guy/gals :joint: :hump: ) Used CFLs exclusively, 8 32w blues for vegging and I added some reds for flowering to total 14 lights through flowering. I used cheap soil, added perlite. I used a Shultz fert with molasses in between feedings, flushed for the last 10 days or so.

Comments are appreciated!!! I'm planning on hanging her for 2 weeks then it's into the jars for at least another 2. I pray she turns into some decent smoke

Anyway, here's the porn

I know!!

I'm about to move over the summer, so I think I'm going to put my next grow off until then. I'll let me experience cure (like the bud ;) ) and that will give me time to buy some proper lighting and such... as I'll probably go with a HPS.

But as mentioned, I'm really excited this turned out OK. It's hard to imagine...I remember when I first started this grow months ago and I thought it would never end.....but now I get to reap the fruits of my labor. I'm thrilled

Very nice, thats impressive for just one plant! Congrats, now the hard part comes. Many people get through their whole grow, but screw up the drying and curing process. Don't be that person:mrgreen:

I know I know, I've been reading up on how to properly handle the last few steps....I don't want to waste the last 3 months on bud that tastes like grass :(

I'm planning on hanging it for a week or two, depending on how fast it drys. Once it's crispy on the outside, cut up manageable buds and put them into jars. Once they 'sweat' I'll keep the jars open until they're dry again. Repeat this process for a week or so, then just keep the jar closed for a few weeks....is this right?

I think you could have waited a few more days.. but that is a beatiful plant. Wht strain is it? and how long did you have it in veg? Its pretty tall thats why I ask. In steadof tying it up... why not stake it next time?
I'm going to look up some more info about using molasses. I'm in first grow with about sixty plants... I've had a frickin night mare the whole way... but I've learned so much that i think its been worth all the trouble because it should make my next grow that much better.
Enjoy your harvest!

The strain is just some bagseed out of some decent mids. I vegged for 30-40 days I think I can't really remember quite a while though I had to go out of town and couldn't regulate 12/12 for flowering so I had to keep it in veg longer than I wanted to

And yeah I would have liked to keep it growing longer but it was becoming too unmanageable the tops were too heavy it needed HOURLY attention and I didn't think about staking it up until it was too late :(

You have given me hope with your cfl grow. I absolutely didnt think that cfl's could produce anything that big that was worth a crap. Congratulations on your first harvest bro!
