MY first indoor experiment

Well I havent started anything yet because there are a few things i wanna straighten out first. I have had 3 successful years in the past (outdoor) so I think I've got most of the mistakes made already and I think Im capable of Indoor. But before I invest money into a decent setup I would like to do a small 1 or 2 plant test. My questions are as follows.

I am planning on turning an old refrigerator into my grow space and use the freezer as a clone starter. Does this seem do-able?

If I were to do this test using only CFL's what wattage do I want? What temp? I have heard 5500k is perfect? So thats better than 6500k?
and how many? Say I was gonna buy from this site 2 to 200 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulbs : 1000Bulbs.com The Light Bulb Superstore.
I would eventually be upgrading to maybe a 400w hps. If im confident enough after this test.

And what is the lowest temp I would want to allow the area to drop to. Since this is an unheated area and It could definitely get below freezing is there any type of electric heater that could be used.

Also I would be using blueberry clones to start (from a friend). So any help or hints, suggestions etc. Will be greatly appreciated. I would like to get started on the "gutting" of this fridge asap. That is if yoos guys think its possible. I will get some measurements of the fridge later on tonight...

Thanks:bigjoint:

6500k during veggin and 2700 during flowering is the best.

not sure on the wattage per plant but everyone says 6-10k lumens per plant is the best... 6k being min and 10k being optimal. but depends on your grow size so in a fridge i guess i'm not really sure. should be great reflective in there with it being all white. i guess i'd get like 20k in lumens goin in there... shouldn't be too hard to achieve.

good luck and let us know! sounds like a great grow room.

Ok i got the measurements of the fridge and it not really too big. But you tell me...

The larger bottom part is 25" wide 17 1/2" deep and 34" tall

The freezer is only 16" high.

Is 16" too little for clone starting? How long could they last in 16" before outgrowing it?

Should I just try to cut out the divider between the freezer and fridge and make it 50 or probably 52" tall instead?

And now knowing the measurements what do you suppose is the most i could fit in there and would a 400w hps be too much for that space?????

I think it would be fine the way it is. its all about the yield you are trying to accomplish. if its just for yourself then go for it where you are. i'd say 16" will be ok for clones to get the roots started but not sure you'd have much room after Pot size and lights are hung... maybe 10" max for plant to veg so you might not be able to veg in there.

if you want to use a HPS you'd have to cut out the divider since i'm pretty sure they have to be 12"+ away from the plant so they don't burn your tops.

please correct me if i am wrong!

ok so its lookin like the divider will be cut out. Im gonna take all the bullshit out that is under the fridge part also and rig up some kind of space heater that runs off a thermostat.

Ok the divider has been cut out. i bought a mh/hps 250 watt from HTG. arrived today. I also bought a small space heater wich at the lowest setting keeps thigs at 60 at the bottom of the fridge and and 71 at the top. This is with no lights running. But its also with no fans running or an exhaust cut yet. So thats just in a sealed fridge. So im pretty sure things oughtta go just fine. Every day I get closer to completion. By the end of this week I should be just waitin on seeds. Which i am ordering right now. I plan to use white diesel with the scrog technique. Anybody disagree?

Alright were getting closer. I got the fridge washed down with 10% bleach. got the fans wired up light etc. Just wondering what the safe temp for the light is. It holds 65-80 at the bottom of the fridge but up above the light gets 100 or so. WHats the hottest i want my light to get before it becomes a hazzard.

SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER THIS TIME!!
