My First Outdoor NW

only getting bout 4-5 hours of direct sun a day and she is filling out nicely in portland

That's a beauty! My first time growing at this location, I'm still learning how the sun moves from season to season. At this point, two of my girls get about 3-4 hours of direct light per day, I'm finding the other two (different part of the yard) are only getting about 90 minutes, and those numbers go down a little each day.

I thought I'd want to do light dep to force an early finish in order to avoid the rain -- now I've learned I will need to do it next year in order to finish them early enough in the season that they can have enough direct sunlight during flower to develop full buds. The ones getting 90 minutes of sunlight are popcorn buds top to bottom. They're just struggling. It's crazy, because mid-summer they got enough sun to grow to almost 7' tall (and almost as wide) after being topped a couple of times and double scrogged... so they're good sized plants. They are green and lush, no unmet nute needs, just not enough light to fully flower. Live and learn.

Now is the time to watch close for signs of mold and mildew.

Too true. Yesterday I had to take one down early because of bud rot. I was so focused on keeping the rain off of them, I didn't realize how easy it is to trap moisture under plastic -- even when its not completely covered on all sides.

At least the air is moving today, should help to keep the rest of them from accumulating moisture. Good luck everyone.

(edit) And as a side note, one good thing about the 'popcorn bud' I was complaining about earlier, is that at least the larfy spread out little buds are not as susceptible to trapping moisture and therefor bud rot. Silver lining to a thin crop, I guess.

One plant wasn't getting sun she needed so I threw a light out there for her. Others are just about finished. Probably harvest when this last spell of great Portland weather ends.

We're running outta sun and all my trichomes are still white :( lol

Yeah, it doesn't look like I'll see any amber from my outdoor this year. Looks like there will be a LOT of edibles, and not much to smoke.

Can you make hash from buds that are about 50/50 clear and white (/cloudy) trichomes? I've never made hash before, this will be my first attempt.

@Humanrob , shame about the budrot, had a small spot of budrot myself, got rid of the infected part.

My 1000w is on veg timer right now and I don't think the t5 is gonna help much budding but I could be wrong lol

No, I haven't.

I'm just being very optimistic.

I was hoping they would turn faster for you.

Wasn't trying to mislead you. just wishing you the best.

Not a problem, and thanks bro, for the support. I'm at the hard part of the learning curve, put a lot of time and energy into these babies and currently I'm learning was does not work. Next year, I hope to be more in line with what does work. :)

This afghan clone planted 1st aug was getting around 3+ hours sun. No plant probably getting 2 hrs direct sun, then filtered light.
Small buds, white pistils, we will see, since that was the only other spot in the yard.
learning curve? I think my curve is still going up. lol :eyesmoke:

That's similar to what mine look like, except I put them in mid-April, so they are 7 ft tall and six feet wide!
