My First Plant ;]

Hey guys and gals, this is my first grow! I started a thread over in the newbie central section but after a few posts I realized I was going to end up keeping a journal of their growth, sooooo here I am! Take a look at the her (hopefully her...).

I do have another one that's a few days or a week behind this plant, but I'm not going to pay as much attention to her unless if something goes wrong with the first one or something. You'll most probably see her pop up in the background of a few pics tho ;)

Happy growing!

And here are today's pics. This is day 5 from being planted in the Rapid Rooters. I had germinated both seeds for 36 hours and the first one's taproot showed a few days before the second, so that's the reason for the growth differences.

I haven't gotten any nutes or anything for them yet (I know I shouldn't add anything right now anyway), but I am looking to purchase some this week so if anyone has suggestions or anything, let me know!

They are both bagseeds from some dank, but I don't know what strain either are. They're I believe from two different buds too, but I can't be sure.

This is Day 5 for the main plant

They are so cute when they are that age ;)

BTW.... you might want to start a few more seeds.... you are going to be mighty disappointed it those both turn out to be boys.

Yeah I'm actually just trying to see how well I can raise these. I'm already impressed that with just a few CFLs they are looking the way they are. It's almost like you read and research and see other people make it work but you don't think it'll work for you. But both of them look pretty good to me!

But back to your point, I'm just hoping that I can grow these plants healthily, attempt transplating to different mediums, try the methods of LST. Granted, if they're guys, I'm goina have to ditch them and start over, but if one or both turn out to be ladies, more power to em :-D This is more experimental.

I ordered 10 Northern Lights from Nirvana (which came in 9 days, excellent time), and they're just sitting waiting to be germinated after I become a Dr. Greenthumb :weed: Thanks for the suggestion though! I'll definitely have at least like 5 going after I gain some experience on how to take care of the females a little better ;)

can you tell us all the details?
Hm, well I'm not sure if these will cover what you were lookin for but here ya go:

Strain: Unknown bag seeds, both from a different batch (I believe).
Germination: Clammed 'em in between two plates soaking between napkins. First seed was ready after 48 hours and the second seed took closer to about 3 and a 1/2 days.
Medium: Rapid Rooters right now... I haven't bought any soil to transplant them into. Any suggestions?
Lighting: 2 20 watt daylight CFLs, 2 26 watt bright white cfls and another daylight CFL that's somethin like 18 or 19 watts. Don't have the money for any of the higher scale lamp sets just yet. The area is surrounded with tin foil (yeah I know the dangers of heat spots... so far it's been working OK, but I'll upgrade the area over time.
Nutes: Another area that I'm lacking in... any suggestions would be great. I haven't narrowed my choices down through the research I've done.
Long Term: I'm going to use LST on these babies. Hopefully one of em (or both of em, for that matter) will end up being a lady/ladies, so we'll see how well I can execute use of the training.

Any other details you lookin for?

Also, how much of a threat are bugs in getting in my grow since it's an indoor grow space? I saw a little teeny tiny bug that looked like it may have wings that landed on the plug of the rooters once, and I was sure to get it out of there immediately, but I wasn't sure if I should be investing in some organic pest control as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a quick picture update. The second plant is looking really happy. I think it wanted to make up for a slow germination 8-)

Happy growing!

Day 6

Picture update! Also, is there a reason that the stems are going from being completely straight to slightly tipping over? I mean I'm going to do the LST method anyway, but it bothers me a little that the stems are slightly bending on their own... could my lights be too close? too far? too much water? too little? I mean the little buggers look healthy and green, and plant #2 (the one on the left) is doing amazing considering it's a few days behind the first.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Happy growing!

Day 12

Here's some updated pictures. I'm pretty sure I should've buried the plugs in more when I transplanted them, but what's done is done. There will be one more transplant after this so I'll fix the problem when I do that.

Also, one of the plants has one leaf that grew half as much as the other leaf, but I'm hoping that they'll catch up to each other like they have been thus far.

Happy growing!

you should just add more soil on top of the pot. it'll get compacted anyways. what soil mix are you using? i've got mine in just straight potting soil from Osh with nutes that last about 3 weeks, i know you're supposed to go with nute free soil but it worked for me!

i have a space issue as well, i know what that 's like, but all it takes is cleaning out one closet and you can get started right! I LST'd and it's a bit of a mess at times, when the get bigger i have had problems balancing a few of my ladies, i'm about to try topping as my veg area is packed!

good luck with the grow, pray for baby girls!

ya that's true, good idea. i'll throw some more soil on them before i water them tomorrow.

as for the soil, i bought some "scott's premium potting soil" which has like a ridiculously small amount of npk... somethin like .1-.3-.1 or something, maybe even less, i'd have to double check. apparently it releases slowly over 4 months?

either way, i just went with that cause i stopped by home depot and they didn't seem to have a great selection of soil... maybe i just didn't know where to look or something, so i ended up just goin with that. oh ya, and i also bought a bag of perlite that i threw in there... about a handful for each pot. i just mixed it in myself and then planted away. seems to be working pretty good.

the very tips of the first set of leaves on both of my plants r slightly yellow. it's like the veeeeeeeeeeeery tip tho... i'll try to get pics up of it, but im not sure what it is. hopefully ill get an opinion soon.

yea that can happen, not something to be crazy scared of. just look at all the caring you've been doing and check if anything is slightly off? might be sliight over nute but doesn't sound like it with you. something might be just starting to be wrong too, like soil pH a little too off for your babies liking, but something that they will grow out of fairly quickly.

do they look healthy and are most of the leaves nice and healthy? either way keep a lookout make if there is something significant wrong you don't miss. the sooner you get to the problem the better

i have a soil Ph meter coming in soon and so far it's just the extreme tips, like honestly not even a millimeter. the leaves look amazing and the plants r growin a lot faster than b4 so i do think it's somethin they'll grow out of soon, especially once i balance the ph out.

thanks for the suggestions. ne suggestions for what nutes to use when they're old enough? think im bout a week and 1/2 or 2 weeks away b4 they can start eatin >;]

Day 27

Hey folks, I've been pretty busy recently, but here are some pics of my babies. I started the LST training a few days ago and they seem to be taking it really well. I'm going to transplant them into their final destination soon since they're already at the edge of their first pots. Check it out:

Day 47

I haven't given any nutes or anything, just straight water and some organic apple cider vinegar to get the pH a little lower. Since I haven't given any nutes for veging, I'll probly do it for the flowering stage. I still am using only the 5 bulbs that I was originally using... I have yet to increase the wattage and the space. Let me know what you guys think!

I only took pics of one of my plants this time around... the other plant is in the bg if u can kinda make it out... ill take better pics when i got some more time. right now the plant whose pic i took seems to be doin really well--just growin slow since it's only a few CFLs.
