My First RDWC Grow with 1000w from Seed

Im glad i could help. I was having a problem with res temps as well.

How big do you plan on vegging them?
RDWC can hold big plants. I had seven footers last round...a lil too big.
If you have any other questions Ill be sticking around to watch your progress!
Good luck Bro!

@dirtfree

I want to lst'd them to 16in or just 12 don't want to run out of room, but I think I have plenty of room for two good size plants what you think?
my last grow I topped for a 4 cola and it came out good but would like to try lst for the first time.

question
do you use water chiller?
ewc tea?
thanks

hey dude im high and just Thoughted about when you said the 1k was overkill I should've replied din't you read the title of my journal? 1000w form seed lol!

tent stats:

water temp 64
RH 50
ph 5.9

im still using the 1k 30min every 4 hours to keep temps up a bit:peace:

That's cool you are able to cycle on the 1000k like that. Sort of like your simulating extended cloudy/overcast conditions, with a burst of bright ass sun every few hours :D

12" vegg is a good size. I like to super crop my plants to make them bushy. How much room do you have to work with?

No chiller for me. Thats why i make sure my buckets are in the shade! I never had any problems personaly from the water temps being high, just always heard it was bad. Mine were as high as 85 in the sumertime maybe higher......but my crop turned out fine.

EWC TEA??? Im lost. Like a compost tea? Id like to make my own tea just dont have the time.
I use botanicares full line up. I think i need more of a bloom booster but thats besides the point.

EWC tea is earth worm castings brewed in water with air stones for a few hours. i am not sure how hydro does with this, but always heard its great for soil.

I got this when I was driving to work and I lmao! But I guess you are right.

thanks, now quit surfing the web while you drive to work before you wreck and we dont get to see how this all turns out

I agree on 12" for veggie .just Got insulation for the buckets and the lines ,around 20 at the store and got what I need to diy a carbon filter around 40$( without the carbon )and a 3gal tote cloner.
And yes a compost tea I just found out about this a week ago and just trying to get a feel for it.
I'm working with 5x5x7 but inside the tent I have about 6'4" under the light.
What kind of bloom booster For your grow ?
Thanks.

I'm at work working on a diy carbon filter I think it'll be done today so I'll post pics tomorrow :peace:

you must have a sweet job to be able to work on your grow stuff while at work!!!

I think i got a potassium or k defficentcy this round. Leaves are kinda blotchy and curling up. I know its not over nute because i dont run high ppms. From what i read it needs more P and K.
Always wanted to make my own worm castings just never got around to ordering worms. I have the perfect thing to put them in, it even has a spout at the bottom. Im also tired of driving 30 miles to get nutes from the hydro shop. This spring ill prob put it together. Too fuckin cold outside now.

I know what you mean the hydroshop around here its 45min away, thats why I ordered online this time, but with the money I spent on shippng I could've got a nother light or filter or the fuckin chiller I wan!!t but it was worth it .

I'm uploading some pics right now of what I did last night and this morning.

radio alert radio alert. attention all industrial mechanics, i need a carbon filter too. gimme a price cheaper than a company, nd ill send you a money order.

I worked on this filter last night, and I think came out good.

This is not a tutorial or a how to, its just a How I did it!!

materials
6" duct cap
6" to 5" reducer
8" to 6" reducer
8" duct cap(could not find it) had to make from scratch
2x5 hardware cloth
duct tape
weather srtipping
hose clamps 6 x 4" , 2 x 2"
extra large panty hose
dust filter got a roll from work
Total with carbon 80$

I started with a 8" pvc pipe
1394368-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0317.jpg

cut a ring about 1 1/2" wide
1394534-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0320.jpg

then got a piece of this white plastic from work and traced the inside of the ring
1394426-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0318.jpg

cut it with a saw then grinded it to a smoth round and epoxy'd together

1394535-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0319.jpg

fill the 8" cap with the filter material. this will act like a spring or a lock washer at the end

1394373-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0333.jpg

wraped the wire around the the cap did this for both the 6 and 8 and clamped it
1394408-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0321.jpg
1394379-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0336.jpg
1394380-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0325.jpg
1394537-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0327.jpg

wrapped both cores with panty hose and held it in place with duct tape
1394536-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0339.jpg

wrapped the bottom sides of the 6" core with filter to keep an even space between cores
1394371-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0346.jpg

placed 6" to 5" reducer in the the 6" core after wrapping it with duct tape and wether stripping at the point in wich the inner an outer meet to make a seal.
1394407-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0322.jpg
1394369-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0332.jpg
1394423-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0345.jpg

filled space in between cores with carbon
1394406-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0350.jpg

left about a inch from top without carbon.when done filled the top part with filter untill the space its filled
1394546-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0352.jpg

placed 8"to 6" reducer in very tight and held it with tape and clamped it
1394407-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0322.jpg
1394372-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0354.jpg

almost done
1394554-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0359.jpg

final step. wrapped dust filter around outer core and secured it with tie wraps
1394410-my-first-rdwc-grow-1000w-imag0362.jpg

done!! works like a charm. smoked :leaf: right next to it and there was no smell coming out the other side
