Notice the phrase " I haven't had any infestations yet. KNOCK ON WOOD." Well ..... the problem i spoke of was a different type bug. Today .. i came to finally notice that one of my plants was showing signs of damage.... FUCKING SPIDERMITES!!! a day after i made this comment.... someone please give me an idea on how to approach these motherfuckers ... I've done my reading. I'm prepared to start off with some mixes or go straight to the neem. I know what i've got to do. But i'd like to know what you would do. The problem appears small now ... fuck help please. I'll give you a shiny green rep!!!

Bricktop gave me a bit of good advice the other day regaring mites ... seems they don't like tabacco .... I will Just post what he told me and you can decide for yourself :)

Bricktop :

3 strong cigarettes in roughly 3/4 gallon of water is a mix ratio that will work in most cases but you might very well have to spray several times because it is very easy to miss areas.

The amounts considered to be optimal by those who like to be very precise are: Nicotine 0.5 / 1g (if I remember right that should be something like 10 grams of tobacco depending on 'strength' of the brand), Soap 1.3...g, Water 1 liter.

Another home brew for mites and thrips is:

CANOLA OIL SPRAY:
Mix 1 part canola oil into 50 parts water (approximately 1 tablespoon oil to 1 liter water). Add a few drops of dishwashing detergent and shake well. Spray tops and bottoms of leaves and stems generously to get rid of aphids, mealy bugs, spider mites, soft scale or earwigs.

Something you can buy which is good is Called SPINOSAD.

well if you are that far into flowering I would buy ladybugs or predator mites...keep the plant as moist as possible...mites love it dry (of course that cause other problems)...spray in a fine mist bottle a water / garlic mash combo maybe and hope for the best! yeeehhhaaaaw

i had spider mites on my flowering plant too but all i used was rubbing alchol and a little dab of dish soap mixed with water and it got rid of them.
add 1 part alcohol to 1 part water ex. use both in equal quantities. Since rubbing alcohol is poisonous, it will kill the mites on contact. At the same time, it evaporates quickly and thus, will do little damage to your plant. Make sure to use the spray on the entire plant, paying emphasis on the bottoms of the leaves

thanks for the replies so far ..... I may try the tobacco juice if it's not to late into flowering. I have a pack of smokes in the event i would need to make some. I just sprayed in a panic attempt with 1/4 cup of peroxide and dab of dish soap ( which is what i'm using for pm). The bitch of it is... is that ... I'm battling a bit of powdery mildew along with this now. So too keep the humidity up high might bring the PM out. But will follow Brick Tops method first and foremost .. guy seems to know his shit... but i've also read and used the garlic remedy, and was checking out a thread on alcohol a minute to go...
Like i said .. it seems to be surfacing now. But it's my first time having them, so i have no idea what i'm in for...

neem oil sprays can help with PM.

also milk sprays can help with it too.

Or high ph water sprays that kill the PM.

Just keep in mind ... It's not the end of the world ... your on it ... you know the problem is there ... you have a shitload of ways to combat it ... Take your time ....You WILL sort it out ... Just don't hit it to hard with to many diffrent things .. try one wait .. try another wait and so on :)

i just did some research on this subject and it says that spider mites move a lot faster and produce a lot more babies when the temp is high so keep the temp low so turn the fan on if you have one.

I'm checking them all now for signs of damage and am not finding much if any... not yet. My one plant however has them for sure it seems to be a few leaves ... with about 10 percent damage ....The other look ok. But spray them all for sure right??? I'm gonna start off with the tobacco ... it's ok in flowering??
Another thing is .. my conditions are pretty optimal right now .... about 79 degrees F with 60 percent RH. Temps at night go down to about 69. Just sucks ... i have this one a week from harvest.. The only mature one. Think it'll last out the 7 days??? Plant is ready but just flushed yesterday ...

yes start spraying everything down. spray the fuck outta the bottom of your leaves. its ok to spray the bud a little but dont drench it

Wow that sucks, I just found out today I have them too!:cuss:
So I went out and got some Schultz Fruit and Vegetable Insect Spray.
It has pyethrins 0.01% Canola Oil 1.00% Inert Ingredients 98.99% $8.00 per bottle.
I put almost the whole 24 ozs. on 8 20" plants.
My Poor Babies!!!!:wall:

We'll see ...... I made up a nicotine spray last night. 10 cigs in 1 liter of water. Sprayed the shit out of them this morning .... didn't see anything but i think i may have seen some eggs. I'll spray again in another 5 days.... I have one or two plants that i think may have started it.. Should i scrap them?

hope all goes well for you too man.... This sucks! Maybe i'll switch to that if the nicotine spray doesn't work this cycle, figure i'm supposed to do it three times... I bleached the room today. either something like that, or neem. will be what i use if nicotine doesn't work. good luck with your babies ... stay on that microscope..haha

Those girls are close enough to done. Don't spray anything on them. Chop them tonight and start the drying process. Trim off any PM you have. Spraying anything on them now will just lead to shitty smoke. I seriously doubt you'll gain much from it. Not trying to be harsh. But PM and Spider Mites each on their own are enough to battle. Put together they are like the wonder twins. I feel your pain my friend. I've been in the same situation and it sucked.
