my first time

im a first time grower trying to grow in my closet. i have a budget of about 150 to 200 dollars to by equipment (not including seeds) im trying to find out the best stuff to buy that fits in my budget. any help?

for that price I would personally spend it all on a high pressure sodium light off ebay.as soil and a few pots wouldnt cost a whole lot and get some good nutes.the light will make ALL the difference in your yield.inn not you could buy a bunch of cfl lights and go that route but im all about HID lights since ive switched.

whats a good wattage to use?

You're going to need to vent the air in your chamber, what are you working with? Closet, grow tent, cabinet, what size is your growspace?

Depends how many plants you're doing, you could get something like 150w hps for one plant, or 250w, 400w, etc. I have a closet grow with a 400w and a fan.

I think you'd be fine with a 250w hps and a 100cfm vent fan, that should be under $200 if you look around.
