Jack was my hero then he became my inspiration and then luckily a friend as well. If you haven't read his book get off your lazy stoner ass and do so it's pretty amazing what he actually uncovered.
So I wasn't at Hempstock and missed his last speech but I have seen many and let me tell you if you never heard him speak, well you missed something extraordinary I have seen Jack deliver a mental energy wave before that made the hair stand up on my neck and make me want to literally scream out at the injustices in this war against a culture not of a drug.
So last week I was visiting the Third Eye which is a Head shop in Portland owned by Jack and his family. It's actually a nice place with some sick glass and lots of cool culture stuff like clothes etc.
I am a regular there and I drop by and sign some books and by glass cause let me tell you I love new bongs. My current fav is Sleek Designs if your wondering.
So I walk upstairs and Mark Herer comes up behind me, now we had never met but based on his appearance I figured thats who it was. He helped me with a question about an Iolite I bought for a patient then he leans close and ask " Are you the entity they call Subcool"? I smiled at the way he put it and nodded that I was. he leans closer and ask me if I can get him a pack of his Dad's seeds. I politely explained that a pack of JH seeds from Sensi would probably not give him a great keeper female and suggested he simply ask around in the medical community for a selected cutting He seemed surprised that it was complicated but again I politely explained that indeed Jack Herer was an amazing strain but that the fruity hazy not naner spitting female was rare and then told me he had been trying for some time to locate the seeds that bore his Dad's name. I gave him my word that "Subcool" would ask around and I would find him a cutting but I had no idea of anyone that actually had one so I put some pressure on myself.
See I took this as a favor to Jack himself and it meant a huge deal to me.
My best mate and creator or Chernobyl and the finder of Black Cherry Soda is like my brother and to say he's proud to be so close to me when I ask for something he takes it as seriously as I did when Mark ask me. He sent out the feelers and today he put in my hand this rare cutting that is held by a higher up at the nutrient company AN and when he heard the story he pulled cut from his personal med grow and dropped it off with my mate a legal grower and caregiver and I picked it up from him. So if your following all this what we did is completely legal under state law and now I get to drop this off to Jacks son next week who also is a caregiver and card holder.
I am pretty sure Jack would be very happy with the whole legal aspect and I hope in some tiny way I am paying the man back for all he inspired in myself.
