My Grow House Design (Need Advice)

I have a new house that I would like to start growing in and I was looking here to find some advice from some more advanced growers. I have a general plan but nothing is set in stone yet.

I have a total of 3x rooms that I can use. (10x10) (10x12) (12x12)
I was thinking of maybe using two rooms for growing and one room for flowering.
Using 4x 600 MH in the growing rooms and 4x HPS's in the flowering room.
I plan on using the SOG method with fox farm soil and organic nutrients.

Any advice on the style of rooms, or even lighting, would be of great help.

personally i would use 2x4's and plywood to separate your 2 rooms into 4 areas and use a light mover in each one then u can perfectly control all the conditions for all ur differnt stages of growth.other then that have u considered vertical grow

your first order of business should be to do one succeful grow with a 600watt

once u get that under your belt you will know better how to move forward. if you try to execute your whole plan now you will end up wasting a great deal of money time and end up disappointed.

its like if you never driven a car before you cant just start out driving a semi in a blizzard

you need to train first. then count your havest. see how good you did. then you can start doing the math and expanding.

being intelligent is the key, you seem inteligent enough, only thing u need now is expiriance

I am new to this, and I really do appreciate all your help because I am still learning, like you were once.

Basically I finally found a place to grow in, and I am moving-in, in less than two weeks. I was planning on setting up everything and driving up to nor-cal to pick up 20 clones (2-4week old) to start with in one room.

I picked up two books at the bookstore and I have been reading forums non-stop and finally decided to make my own thread.

I have 3 rooms, and what exactly does a light mover in each room do? how can i perfectly control all the conditions with a light mover? explain, i'm confused.

only reason i say start small if cuz you will think you know what is right then later you will have figured out all the best things for you to use, so you end up revamping and reconfiguring a lot and wasting money

also think about it this way i got a 5'x5'x8' closet and that could produce 2 lbs evey 2 months, but i only grow for personal so scaled it back

anyway, that would be $4000 pure profit after expenses per month if I sold the stuff,

so the size rooms you are talking about if done corrctly would produce at the very least:

2 lbs a month = $8,000 per month = $96,000 a year = Trafficing, tax evasion, manufacturing = atleast 5 years in prison

i will explain. alright sog method needs 4-5 2 week stages of growth to work. u will have stage one "AKA" new clones they will need to be under 12-12 for 2 weeks without nutes. then u move them up to the next stage, another 2 weeks of 12-12 low dose of nutes. then u have to switch them form your mh to ur hps and continue. one more round in stage 4 and just like that u should have plants that are ready to harvest. now i said 4-5 cause unless u plan on buying new clones everytime i would also have like 3 or 4 mothers in a dubble rubermade with light 24/0 so u have somthing to make cuttings from. the light mover is somthing u can use so that one of those lights can keep 15-20 plants happy in each of the differnt stages. you also need to consider co2 levels, temps and humiditys cause they will all have to be monitered and controled. i just think that seperating the rooms out ino the differnt sections using the 2x4 and playwood wuld make it much easyer to "hang lights keep temps under control, run ducting and all the other things u have to do to make it work

Thanks owixomen for that short summary, you'll have to do into more detail later.

Yah. A sketch of the three rooms would be very nice. Anything would help though, even if it was just listed with words. =)

I want to start with soil first, then eventually move to a hydro setup when I get a new house. I am not sure what strains I am using, I was hoping to get some decent clones at a medical dispensary.

I just need to know how to maximize yield with all 3 rooms, because I have 3 rooms to use and I want maximum yield.

Should I use 1 room for vegetation? 1 room for flowering? and 1 room for drying?

or

Should I use my closets and bathroom for drying and use 2 rooms for vegetation and 1 room for flowering?

Again, any advice will help.

Thanks, much love.

1 room veg two rooms bloom, if you are not dividing up the rooms. give yourself lots of room to access and work on indv plants.

And once they've been through vegetation(pre-flowering), do I leave them in flowering from then on? Or do I bring them back into the vegetation(pre-flowering) room?

what? stop calling vegetation pre flower

in SOG, we dont have any veg time and if it is....it is little to none.

establish a mother and clone area.... i would make my mother area like 6x6 give or take.... and the clone area could be 2 x 2.

once the clones root. pop them into flower.

and judging from this comment....you definitely need to go back to the drawing board and do ALOT more reading.... especially before you attempt to start anything of this caliber, in my most humble opinion

If you don't want to help, there is no need to post.

I'm here to learn, and I have been reading and I just finished one of my two books. I'm here for advice and like I said to learn. I've been getting the names of the stages mixed up, it seems as everyone has different names to everything and I get things confused. Again i have two weeks to start.

once you "turn" your plants into flowering stage "12/12 lighting" you do not want to bring them back. thats known as re-vegging. 12/12 lighting cycle will produce a hormone telling the plant its time to fruit/flower. once turned leave them 12/12 for about 60 days or until you know how to identify a plants readiness.

Ok, First off this drawing isn't to scale and it is just an idea....

I drew this for a flowering area in your room with 5 stages and each section let us call it 2x2 feet. Let us assume that:

1. We'll do a sog configuration with 1 PLANT per square foot for simplicity's sake( generally it is nice to give a lil more room but for sea of green[sog] it is ok.

2. You have 5 flowering stations(each 2x2 section).

3. Flowering is 10 weeks(strain dependent).

4. Every 2 weeks you move plants up one station. So once flowering ends and production starts every 2 weeks you have NEW bud.

Essentially this is 10x2 = 20 square feet.

Calculate your desired lumens per square foot....

For flowering
2500 minimal
5000 middle of road
7500+ optimal

Lets say 8000+ lumens per square foot is goal

8000*20=160,000 lumens

To accomplish this I'd go 2 600 watters @ 90-95k lumens... go with digital ballasts for less heat..

90k*2=180k lumens

180k/20=9k lumens per square foot..

Now...Decide on soil, hydro or aero grow

Decide on Nutes lots of info available on that as well

Buy/build some carbon filters for smell

Decide on heat control measures.... AC/Fans... etc etc

Get some ph balancers/humidity controls

Decide on Reflector hoods and reflective materials for walls... mylar/titanium white... whatever

Buy Timers

Decide on 18/6 or 12/12 flowering cycles 12/12 is more common

READ READ READ LEARN LEARN LEARN

Alot I left out... but I would add to look into UVB lights for better trichome production and better buds.
