My Grow Idea

Right to start off I have never posted anything on this site before so sorry bout any BS or anything :)…

I was really just wondering what everyone thought of this set up I was thinking of using when I get a place of my own, but I just wanted 2 post this any way mainly to get feed back on my idea , from anyone that thought my plan could be improved apon, anyway, this is what I was thinking of doing…

Odor control:

Odor Neutralizing Machine

I read of this on a post on cannabis culture when searching for a good odor control solution, apparently it has a fantastic success rate, most people boosting that the odors from the weed have disappeared nearly 100%.

The basic idea is to get a 5gallon bucket, fill it with “ONA” or another odor neutralizing agent and a pound container of soil moist (a water absorbing crystal) and blow a fan into the crystals with around 20 wholes at the side to allow the odor neutralizing gas to escape, I realize why the site does not like people linking to other sites on their post, so just PM me if you would like the link to the full instructions on how to build one yourself, cost as little as £30 apparently, seems a seriously good investment IMO.

Lighting:

VEG: for the vegetation stage I was planning on using CFL’s so that I don’t need to worry too much about heat, plus I also heard there a pretty solid investment if you get the right lumens (which I think is 6400, please correct me if I’m wrong)

FLOWERING: for the flowering stage I thought using a 250watt HPS would be ample for a small amount of plants, and giving the correct type of light to give a dank bud

Ventilation

This I still need help with, I wouldn’t like to start drilling huge wholes in the walls or closet doors, I had thought about using a few computer fans for a bit of air circulation but anyone know a good stealth way of ventilating please tell me?

Reflective materials

I thought for this I would either use Mylar or paint a white matt finish on the walls (supposedly the plants like white matt paint better than Mylar, but I just think Mylar looks a lot better :D)

Soil & Fertilizer

For my soil and fertilizer I was going to use FoxFarm products, as I’ve heard nothing but praise about them.

Growing Techniques

To keep my plants small and bushy, I was going to use topping + LST, or trim the buttom 5-10cm to allow a good air circulation to the upper leaves and buds and just top my plant, I was also going to place a small fan near to the stem to strengthen it so it can hold bigger buds

Well thanks for reading

ANY comments good or bad are very much appreciated, this is the first thread I have ever done, so I’m sorry if it’s either BS or too long :)

Id also like to know if you think I know enough to start growing when I finally get some rented accommodation, Thanks again PTB:joint:

thanks for the info PB, yeah the reason i was going to go for a 250watt instead of a 400watt is purely because of the heat emitted from the high watt range, i agree the 400watt would give me nicer buds as my end product if i controlled the tempature efficently but i dont know if i could.

the place i would be living in at first would be rented, therefore im not really wanting to put huge wholes in any of the landowners walls, doors etc, so i was thinkin of doing a wardrobe, or drawer grow instead of a closet grow, but even then, to get the best out of my ventilation im sure id have to vent outside which again means i would have to be putting wholes in walls...

anyone hear grow in rented accomidation or has in the past id love to hear ideas on how best to :)

thanks alot PTB

if the place you end up renting isn't on the ground floor..
find a cabinet with wheels to build you growth space in put in your room next to window.
and with some clothes dryer duct and just run it out your window if you get some plywood and run the duct thru that so you can have a snug fit. I have see some indoor Air conditioning models on tv that sit in your room and have an exsuast vent like that.
If you are on the ground floor i dunno if it would still work because you would have people walking by all day.

Thanks GMR, yeah i had also thought about something like that..but im really looking for a stelth way to vent without the need for wholes in walls doors etc, that way would be good but i don't know....just think it would be a bit suspious IMO

obviously i wanting to rule out any possibility of getting caught, so theres also something else i was kind of worried about, i've heard of helicopters flying above that can see the heat off of your lights pouring out to the from your open window/ventilation, is this really a concern for non-profit growers just using 250watt/400 or even 600watt grow lights

thanks for all the help, PTB ;)
